Final itinerary, I swear.

I updated my original posting and changed my route to allow DW to visit the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell.
On September 6, we are going up Rt.15 to I-81 stopping over in Wilkes-Barre (casino parking lot). Our next stop is at Boston Minuteman CG in Littleton, Mass., near Lowell. From there we are traveling to Freeport, Maine, to visit L.L. Bean (staying at Cedar Haven CG). Then off to Bar Harbor area for a week. I plan to take Rt.1 from Freeport to Mt. Desert Island. We're staying at Hadley's Point near Acadia NP.

I'm interested in tapping local knowledge of the best routes from Wilkes-Barre to Littleton and Littleton to Freeport. And, is Rt.1 up the coast worth doing for scenery and local color, so to speak?

Yes Route 1 is the way to go is much nicer slower but takes about he same time as 95 does. when I do PA to NY route is just the truck and I go from Troy to Vt then to NH not camper friendly but I do the route one in Maine with the camper instead of 95 there is so much to see and you will be enticed to stop along the way plan an extra day.
