By Now

By now most of you must know I'm a little crazier than most. I find the concept interesting particularly if taken a lttle further - like a ramp that turns into a significant off the ground porch or maybe a capping slide out that covers the whole trailer bed creating a murphy bed bedroom.

Actually there is a group of people, refered to me by some one on this site, that uses red utility trailers to build their own trailers.

Does anyone remember the fifth wheel towed by a 40 hp VW bug on this site where the fifth wheel connected to the roof of the VW? The vw could do a complete revolurion under the fifth wheel and back the 5th wheel in by drving forward.

We are driving a Dodge Ram Truck this week, bigger than our trailer but smaller than most of our fifth wheel friends trucks. Now we understand how the Trailer industry was able to create today's heavy family of trailers and to some measure understand why they don't really exist in Europe.

We need new solutions. Of course this is not a solution except for this individual, however it is from those willing to be different that greatness comes. Many of our great breakthroughs came from people working in a garage, or in a patent office in Switzerland. No great idea comes from consensus - in science ask Galileo who spent the last years of his life under house arrest for discovering the moons of Jupiter, suggesting the earth was not the center of the Universe.

There's a very similar newer production model to this idea. The Coleman/Fleetwood Evolution:

They also made an earlier version with a larger bed area, called the Fleetwood Scorpion. I think this might be along the lines of what you're thinking, Norm:

A better pic, but too big for posting: http://www.campingearth.com/images/f...toy-hauler.jpg
