Sunspot Awning

Finally got the new awning! I managed to use all the old original hardware and had a local awning company cut and sew up the new awning materal. They did a nice job and the price was very reasonable. A lot less cost than a new one for sure.

Yeah, that is a HUGE awning for that trailer! I've never seen a Sunspot with a self sufficient awning before though, I've just seen the bag and pole type.

This awning hardware use to be the awning in a bag (bag and pole). It seems a bit long but it's the same length as the original. Maybe I'll put one on the other side and make a glider out of it? HA! I plan on cutting the "old" awning material down to fit over the Kitchen area in the rear. There is awning channel already installed on the roof for it.
Thanks,
Deano........

Haha that would look funny with an awning like that on the other side!

And yes, both side and rear awnings were originally optional on this coach, but the rear one is really rare. When opening those doors though, I can't imagine not having an awning over it.

I have seen photos of Sunspots with awning out the rear, over the kitchen. Looks like a good idea.

I agree Sunline Fan, the awning over the kitchen area is a must have. I'll wait till Spring to cut and install the rear awning out of the old awning material due to the fact, as you know, that material gets pretty brittle when it's cold!
Ya'll have a fine day!

Not as silly as you might think. (Well, the glider part is.) I put an awning on both sides of my pop up. The street side awning is used for chair and bicycle storage as well as a sunshade for that side of the Pup, keeping sun out of the BIG window on the street side. Since there isn't a door on that side to contend with, I drilled a few extra holes in the legs to allow more pitch resulting in more sun blocking as that ol' hot, summer sun sinks low. It also keeps the sun from shining on my refrigerator vents.

awellis3, I like your idea of the awning for storage to get things out of the elements. Bet it works out well. Innovation is a must while camping!

mrcamper, Sunline Fan informed me that the back doors on this unit are not the original doors. At some point in time, someone must have done a bit of re-fab work. What year is your Sunspot? I would be interested in seeing some photos also please. Thank You.

Deano........

Indeed they were, and someone replicated the decal as well! Not exact, but a decent enough job.
