Steaks over the fire

Here something nice to try on your next trip.

2 nice peices of Beef Fillet
One camfire burnt down to almost coals
Cooking grate of somekind
Cookinf Spray
Tongs

Start a good hardwood fire and let burn down to decent level of heat. Meanshile season your steaks the way you like and put back in the fridge. When the fire is ready place the grate over the fire and spray with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Grill the steaks over the fire for 3 to 5 minutes per side for medium and twice as long for well done depending on your heat level. This makes for a very good steak with a nice wood grilled flavor, and of course alway have you favorite side to pair it with.

Happy Camping and Cooking

Sounds like a nice meal and we will have to try it. CAUTION:: Do not spray cooking spray on heated surface or open flame as most of them are flammable.

Yes, you have to becareful with that and take it easy. You also may want to oil the grate before putting it over the fire.

Better yet, seal them in a zip-loc and let them come to room temp. while fire is reducing to coals. Fresh beef can stand up to being left at room temp. for quite a while.

Your advice on letting the fire turn to coals is on the money.
