Places I've Stayed

Hi Everyone,

I just thought I'd post a list of everywhere I've stayed since the first night in the very first Sunline. If anyone is considering staying at any of these places, or just wants to comment on one of them, feel free to do so. My mom has kept a journal of everywhere we've stayed, and I stole it from her since I wanted to type this, and now she's barking for me to give it back, but I've had no time until now. I'd be glad to answer any questions on any of the parks, if I can remember :

Good idea Jon. I'll get my list together in the car today and post it on monday or tuesday. Maybe we should post them alphabetically or by state rather than chronoligically, so it's easier to local a particular campground.

We've been trying to do a review for each campground that we've stayed at and post them on our website.

After compiling a few, Cindy decided it would be easier to do them Alphabetically by State. So if you find an easier way to read through, let us know.

Now that I think about it, I think they should be posted by state. My mom obviously wrote the journal chronoligically, so I just copied it directly out of the journal like that.

Do you guys think this is better suited under the M&G section? I couldn't decide where it should go, so I just put it here. I can move it though.

I thought it would be good if we came up with a standard set of questions that we all agreed on, and then when ever one of us stayed at a campground, we could fill out this little questionaire, and post it under it's own section.

If any of us was planning a trip, we could look into that section and see what one of us felt about a campground we were thinking about, and see if it met our criteria. We could have our own section strictly for Sunline Owners Club Campground Reviews.

Doing a Quick Search in Goggle and I get 1,110,000 pages for Camp Ground Reviews. Something tells me people like to read these sort of things.

What do you all think?

A "Campgrounds" forum makes the most sense. Although having a standard set of questions to answer is important, I think it would help to also encourage extended commentary. I've never found sites like campgroundreviews.com to be terribly useful because you rarely learn much about a campground other than the basics. If all you're looking for is price and when the pool opens, the review sites are great. But we like to visit offbeat, quirky and interesting places, and the reviews don't concern themselves with these qualities.

This is a great idea. I'd be happy to contribute.

We often use campgroundreviews.com it covers the US & Canada ......the reviews there are pretty accurate and more reliable than what we've found in the TL Directory.

I agree with Don that there could be a "campgrounds" forum. That way it wouldn't get burried, and others who haven't read this discussion could find it and contribute.

Hutch,

What did you think of Rafter J Bar Ranch in SD? This is the only place we had to move sites due to a sewer back-up, but more importantly, the vegetable oil on all the roads! The first site we had was just down the hill from the bathhouse and someone put rocks down a toilet up there, backing up the sewer. We had a fountain at our site! We ended up moving to a site on a back loop, where the roads weren't covered in oil. It was a nice relief from that horrible smell of sewage and roasting vegetable oil in the late June sun!

I looked like a very nice campground, but they need to do a paving job, BAD. No more oil covered gravel!

Jon,

We stayed there for 3 nights in June-July 2003, site # 198. Our site was located in the area below the store near the horse coral, but not close enought that you got the smell from it . Here's a picture of our site:

It was a PT with full hook-ups. We had no problems there. It was a very enjoyable stay. We liked the campground a lot and probably would stay there again.

The KOA on the way to Mount Rushmore looked like the sites were very close together, it looked like a parking lot, at least from the road when we drove by it. We didn't drive into the KOA so my assessment of it isn't the best.
