Hutch:

I have gone both ways. Ever since I received the directions from the campground, I have not used the toll roads. The roads were decent the last time we went on the secondary roads: As I remember, there is a little bounce on Rte 47 from expansion joints, but not too annoying. The traffic on the A/C Expressway and the Garden State Parkway moves at a fast pace - sometimes faster than you might like while towing a TT. My objection to this route is the Schuylkill Expressway between the PA Turnpike and the A/C Expressway. It is a white-knuckle trip with crazy drivers and panick stops: Also, last minute lane changes are difficult if you aren't familiar with the ramps. As I said before, Sundays aren't too bad because there is no commuter traffic.

When you consider the heavy traffic and the extra miles, I think you make similar time with less stress going the secondary roads. If you decide to take the A/C Expressway and the Parkway, go all the way to exit "0". It is at the junction with Rte 9 to your campground and you used to be able to avoid the last toll by going to the end of the Parkway.

I called Dave Robinson at Holly Shores. He said it would be quicker for you to take a route similar to your earlier post: 476 to 95 to 322 (via the Commodore Barry Bridge) to 55 to 47 to 347 back to 47 to 9. Also, he verified that all of these roads are in very good condition. He used to commute this route daily back to PA when they first purchased the campground.

Al,

Thanks for taking the time and going the extra mile for me. It's really appreciated.

Hutch,
I live here in the Garden State about 15min from Phila. I am picking up my 1st Sunliner tomarow about 30 miles north of Cape May. If you are comming down the PA TP Take it to 496 to 195n to 322 east to 40 to 47 I belive someone suggested this route. You will have no tolls. Only thing the 322 bridge is a good incline ( Comadore Barry ) You should not have any issues with it. But like the others Stay off the Sure Kll 76 thru Phila. When you are in Cape May see the Lighthouse. Also there is Some great fishing ( Deep Sea ) if your into it. There is a Ferry that will take you to Del. Might be $$$
Of course AC is only 1hr north but if you don't see it your not missing much! Have a good trip - Try our Tomatoes and corn if you are here after July 1st / They should be ready by then! Ron

Fort whaley just outside of OC is a very very nice campground, ten minuts away from OC and not too far from De beaches also you cannot go wrong with any of the De state parks, we spend a lot of time camping in them since its close too home!!!
