Campground near Bloomsburg University

Can anyone recommend a nice campground near Bloomsburg University. Rode around the area one day but only found a couple of real dumps. Looking for a clean place with full hookups.

My daughter went to Bloomsburg and she now lives in Bloomsburg. I've never found a decent campground; probably the same dumps that you found. However, J&D Campground near Knobles' amusement park is about 1/2 hour away: It's a nice campground.

There is a new campground being constructed near the airport along the river, but it isn't ready yet.

Knoebel's Lake Glory Campground, which is about 3-4 miles North from J&D is also a nice place with full hookups.

Scroll Down to Lake Glory

P.S. The no hookups refers to the water filling stations, not site hookups

You didn't say when your comming to Bloomsburg.

J&D Campground isn't open untill mid april I believe.
If you want cable, that's the only campground in the area that has cable.
It's also one of the nicer ones.

As Al indicated the (new), campground along the River close to the airport isn't open yet and probably won't be at least for a While. I spoke to the owner a few months back and his thoughts at that time were, he wanted seasonal sites only. I don't know if that's changed.

There are few others Indian Head, kinda run down, Deihels I don't know about that one, Springbrook campground (open intermittently during the winter),kinda dumpie as well. Lake Glory campground nice quite country setting owned by Knobels park.

I live in the area and if I wanted to camp I would go to J&D just my opinon. A little more pricey than the others, but a nice park, it has some older campers in the seasonal site "area", but the over-nighters and short term campers area, is pretty nice.

If you have a sattelite Dish or TV isn't important Lake Glory would be my second choice.

I've never been to Splash Magic campground, all I can tell you is, I think I read in the local newspaper one time something about a bikers weekend there and wet tee-shirt contest there, and some people where complaining.

I think it is generally a family type campground but the Bikers weekend is pretty wild from what I've read.

P.S. update on the new campground near the Bloomsburg airport.

Look like all the concrete pads are now poured, and their now working on the electric panels, etc. Will try to post when I see it's open or it's going to open if advertised in the Bloomsburg Paper.

Thanks for the info, yes we will miss the bike week

We will be there for the Truck show in Bloomsburg. It has to be better than the local motels. Will share my feedback.

Yes I live in Northumberland and the Bike weekend/week is quite nuts there from what I gather. My cousin went permanent there this year. He's into that stuff. I think otherwise it is a pretty decent place.

Knoebels does have 2 campgrounds, 1 at the amusement park, and the Lake Glory sites that someone else mentioned. I would take Lake Glory for a more quieter experience, and it is closer to Bloomsburg. Let me know if you have any questions about any other campgrounds in this area.

I assume you are aware that there is also camping at the fair grounds, I believe it's no hookup. But you can camp at the fairgrounds, can only assume it would be a fairly lively crowd there as well

Thanks for feedback, I have my reservations already so I will stick with it.

I did see you can camp at the fairgrounds but I want electric for A/C. Usually that show is a very hot weekend!

Maybe you can give us a review on the Splashmagic campground, i'd be curious to hear what you think of it.

If gas get up to $4 or $5per gal maybe I'll go there.

Thanks

Will do. We basically will just be pulling in to sleep and unwind for a few hours.

Website looks like it is a nice setup.

Back this weekend from Splash Magic. A very nice setup!

We did not spend much time there as we went to the 4x4 Nationals in Bloomsburg but we did get some time to walk around and check it out.

Very clean and the workers were very nice. I was walking back from the camp store with bags of ice and a worker in a golf cart offered me a ride. Thought it was a nice touch.

If you are camping with kids this would be great to keep them active. Be aware it looks like you pay an extra fee for activites.

Thanks for the review sounds good.

Update on the "New" campground near bloomsburg airport.

Looks like their pretty close to maybe putting down some black top.
Appears as the campsites have water, electric & and sewer hook ups completed.

Sign out front says now "Leasing", as I indicated earlier in this post I talked with the owner, a while ago and he indicated he really wants seasonal's there, not sure if he will be going with overnight's as well ?

In case anyone is interested.

I spoke with the owner yesterday. He said $1,200 for the season, (april thru oct), includes water sewer and trash. Metered Electric.

Also stated that cable "Should" be available directly from the cable company.

He said, he still wants to "try" and keep it all "Seasonals", and no overnighters. said he plans to open this april.

Will keep an eye on this.

Thinking alittle about "possibly" getting a seasonal site there myself. It is a nice location. I'm waiting to see what happens this spring, depending on how harsh a winter we have, usually that area Floods, and gets a lot of ice from the river in the spring.

We'll See.
