Should we buy a 95 Sunline Satellite?
Hi this is Cindy. My husband and I are new to this and looking at this model. It's 20 feet long and looks clean. They are asking 2,800. Any advise? Thanks!

Best advice is to check it out closely for rot/water intrusion.
From my experience there aren't many older campers that don't have some degree of water damage.
You can view many threads on here addressing these issues.
Good luck!

Thank you! We looked at it yesterday. A lot of calking has been applied. We think that's probably a big red flag.

A lot of caulking isn't necessarily a bad thing. The bad thing would be a lot of caulking (actually it should be a sealant like Dicor) applied AFTER a leak was discovered.

Is the roof aluminum or smooth rubber? There will be a lot of sealant on an aluminum roof because of all the extra seams.
The price doesn't seem bad, just look for any wrinkled interior wall or ceiling panel that would indicate a leak.

Thank you both. I think it is aluminum, and the ceiling inside is wrinkly/warped. We couldn't see any appearance of leaking though. We don't think we're going to buy this one. I appreciate your help, thanks again!

Yep, that's a leaker!
If it comes to the point where you actually see water, unless it's from an internal plumbing problem, you'll have major problems. Usually any signs of water damage hide damage that's much worse. There's a lot of insulation to soak up intruding water, plus studs, and then it has to penetrate the 1/8" paneling.
I have seen a few cases where the vinyl wallpaper shrinks and lets go from the wallboard. So wrinkles aren't always an indication, but they usually are. When the wallpaper shrinks, it leaves gaps along the ceiling and wall seams, but leaks usually don't cause it to shrink like that. You should be able to push on a leaky spot and feel spongy/flaky wood behind, not just an air bubble.

Yeah, I think when it gets to the point of wallpaper delaminating it's too late. My camper has had previous water intrusion from the roof yet the interior looks perfect.
