Overjoyed......Overwhelmed!

Hi everyone!
Just purchased a 2002 2553 here in Pa. and have completely fallen in love already! We have been tent campers and popup owners and felt it was time to "move on up". So in honor of the Jeffersons, who did exactly that, we have named her "Weezie". The one drawback to purchasing from a private seller is that you don't get the in depth "walkthrough" as you would buying from a dealer. So, needless to say, I'm completely overwhelmed! Any suggestions from all of the seasoned RVers out there would be appreciated. I'm looking for some written material that walks you through, step-by-step. I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can.
Thanks.

nothing beats pluggin the sucker in and going thru it turning shi....er I mean stuff on.

start simple, check the operation of all lights and fans, check for proper grounded 110 at all outlets.

then the stove, oven...

move on to the fridge - gas side first - use the instructions on it

ditto the hot water tank. look for the valve system that isolates it, find the pump, fresh water tank, city water inlet - start playing!

learn to do the stabilizer jacks and how to unlatch and lower the awning and back up.

Hi babyblues, welcome to the club. Congrats on the "new" camper. At first it DOES seem overwhelming but as quaddriver sad, after looking and poking you will get comfortable with it. DW and I also spent years as tent campers and then a pop up. Moving up to our current Sunline was the best move we ever made.

Thanks for all of the help! I like the idea of finding another local owner to give a few tips. If anyone is interested, I live in Harleysville, PA. Maybe we can barter an hour of your time for my husband's kickin ribs and a few beers! Let me know.

I agree - get a tour guide

While I have been known to explore machinery on my own, I do strongly urge you to get an experienced trailer owner to help you familiarize yourself with the more technical aspects of trailers. For instance, I'd hate for you to turn on the water pump and then go around listening for the sound it makes in order to find its location. They burn up if run dry. Stuff like that.

The good news is that almost all TT manufacturers use the same appliances and most systems work the same regardless of brand. So anyone close to you who is a long-time trailer owner will be able to tell you 90% of what you need to know, whether they own a Sunline or not. (My mentor owned a Terry for 20 yrs. and now has a Jayco.)

Have fun and welcome,
Teach

And we are only about a half hour down the road in Royersford, we certainly aren't the most experienced campers but I'll talk to my husband about sharing the basics with you.
