newby starting a rebuilding process

Hello, I just purchased an 1981 sun line T1950. It is need of repair. I have to pull the a/c off to replace and reseal the roof. Any tips would be appreciated. I hope to have the camper ready by Thanksgiving.

Hi Alan, welcome to the SOC. Congrats on the "new" 1950. There are many good people here that will offer help and advice so don't be afraid to ask. I am sure some of the 1950 owners here will have tips and we would like to see pictures, before, during and after.

Welcome Alan!

Sounds like you have a project in the works.

To your AC unit. I do not know what model is in your 1981 camper however if you can find the make/model and serial number of the AC unit I may be able to help find an installation manual for it. There is a lot of this info on the web, just have to been looking for it before on what the right places are to hit on to get good info.

Send us you numbers and I will help search with you.

Thanks

John

Hello

I just tore out half the ceiling and found nothing holding it up and the a/c was floating I guess. I had to cut out the rotten rafters and reinstall some 1 1/2 angle under the a/c unit. Now I have to move the wireing so I can add new supports to the roof. Then I get to start on the rear wall, water damage.

Hello

I found out the a/c comes off with 4 bolts and then lifts off the roof. The probelm is you can't step on the roof so I have to build a scaffold over the top so I can get to it. It looks simple once I can get over the top and lift it off then set the new gasket and place it back on the roof. Thanks for the help if it turns out to be more than that I will be sending you some info.
