New user

Hello all!
I am new to this site.
I am getting ready to change my awning fabric, wanted to see if there was any advise out there or anybody close to the Indianapolis area that would be willing to help that has done it before. I have been online alot & watched videos, just the spring tension i am a little concerned with.

Thank you
Troy

Welcome to the club Troy.

Here is a thread with lots of pictures started by JohnB. He makes particular mention of the spring and the dangers. If anyone can explain something well, and correctly, it is John.

We read all the threads, including John B's excellent thread with warnings. I have arthritis in my hands and knew I'd be little help. We decided to have our RV dealer install the awning and were glad we did. They do so many that they put it on quickly and did not charge too much. Worth it to us to avoid hassle/injury, and arguments !!

Awning spring tension

John:
You have sny tips onthe tension?
Replaced myfabric, now it rolls out extremely easy, but winding up i have assist it (barely). I had to add extra turns in the right hand spring to get it to roll up this way.

When my awning was replaced, the guy made sure he put the same amount of turns on each side.
