New to the RV world.

My wife and I just got a 1984 F1850. It belonged to my late Granddad. We just got it pulled out of his barn yesterday. It has set there unmoved for several years. It needs a lot of cleaning up and some paint work. My Dad was going to scrap it so we took it. I figured it was worth fixing up and using since it was free. We don't plan on pulling it too far from home. I am sure I will have many questions as we go along for the members on this site. Thanks!

Yes it is the gooseneck style. I guess it is 18.5 ft long but have not measured it. He pulled it with a little Nissan truck. I am going to have to extend the hitch to pull it with my full size truck. There is not clearance on turns the way it is. I will try to get some pics soon. It is just like yours but not near as nice.

S. Extend Downwards on the column bolts.? I also have full size pick -up, 2010 new to me,, specialty tow shop installed the Bed Hitch B & M , not cheap , but can remove the 2 5/16 ball sleeve to get flat bed, if moving furniture, etc.
At home I also wrench loosen the TWO column bolts & lowered the hitch for
more height clearance.. It would be easier to vertical jack up if one removed the truck tailgate when towing. Some people use a Mesh net & another option is a Louvered gate with the v top notch cut down.

My truck is a long bed with the ball pretty far forward for pulling large flatbed trailers. If it was a shortbed it would probably be ok as is.
