New owner of a T2499

Hi,

Connie and I are new owners of a 2003 T2499, our first travel trailer. We are heading out on our "kick the tires" trip next week. I have one burning question: where exactly is the water heater bypass valve located? The "manual" is not very explicit, and I would hate to burn up my water heater on the first trip. Any help appreciated.

Tony

Tony:

It will be right on the front of the water heater, there will be a three way valve just before the "cold" {BLUE in Picture} water line goes into the heater. There will be a pipe that goes from there to the "Hot" {RED in Picture} line coming out of the heater. There will either be a tee/check valve or another three way there. Turning the valve handle(s) towards the heater will un-bypass the heater.

Welcome to the Club!

Thanks. That could have been an embarrassing start to my trailer life.

Hi Tony

First off Welcome to your wife and you to the club!

Now to your question on the T2499 HW heater by pass.

Here see this pic from my prior 2004 T2499

Now to get to that you flip up the couch, hold up with 1 hand. Then take out a screw or 2 of the thin Luan sheet covering that area. Then with a 3rd hand.... reach in and see the 2 valves. The valve has a pointing type handle that indicates the direction of water flow.

And after you wrestle with that couch enough.... check out this mod I did.
T2499 HW Heater ByPass Access - A Different Way.

Good luck and happy camping in your new coach. That is one fine camper youhave there.

John

Fantastic! Thanks, John. Nothing beats a good picture to illustrate the process. I'm going to take pictures of things I have to do and add them to the online documentation.
