New owner down in Texas

Howdy ya'll, I just graduated from sleeping on the ground in a tent to my first trailer. I have been camping my entire life and I got tired of camping with my friends who all have t-trailers and me in my tent. I would wake up in the morning all stiff and they would walk out of their trailers all refreshed. So I bought a 1993 t-2653 from a fella who just moved here from Mich. After reading up on Sunline I think I made the purchase of a life time. This baby is in perfect condition inside and out and everything works great. Even the awnining is in great shape. My only concern is the care and upkeep for the rubber roof; any suggestions?
I think I am the only one in Texas with a Sunline because the folks in the RV stores (I think I've been in them all so far) I've talked to have never heard of Sunline. I have been told though "if it was built up north it should have great insulation" which will be a plus for me because I like to camp in the winter and of course ya'll know it gets pretty hot here in the summer, so good insulation is a plus.
Bye for now,
Donn

Donn,

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your first TT. I'm curious, do you know where was your TT from in MI? There is one '93 2653 that I know of just north of Lansing that was always stored in a barn, except for a very rare occasion, which I how I saw it.

Hi Donn,

Welcome to the club and congrats on your new Sunline.

Wrt maintaining the rubber roof, they're actually very easy to maintain, here are some suggestions:
Keep it clean of debris, by sweeping it off (they say sweeping is better than spraying because water could promote the growth of mildew on the roof).
Try to avoid letting the trailer sit under trees, etc. that drop sap, nuts, etc.
Wash it regularly ( I do mine twice a year, some wash theirs every couple of months)
Check all seals (edges & around roof mounted items) regularly and fix/patch if needed.

This Roof Maintenance web page may provide additional guidance and suggestions on maintaining your roof.

Good luck and have fun.
Hutch

Welcome Donn

I too use to be a back pack fanatic. 50# on my back and I was in heaven and loving it.

Now I pull 6,500# of portable home behind me including the kitchen sink and love it.

And now DW comes camping too. That ground sleeping did not agree with her. However with my thermo rest I could sleep on rocks and be fine, I could still not convince here to go. Now no problem.

Good luck and happy camping

John
