My awesome F-1850 and looking for info

Hi guys an gals!
I'm new here and am trying to learn the ins and outs of how to do stuff here. I recently bought this guy, 1986? or 87? F-1850 that has been sitting out in a field for over 20 yrs! She looked very rough on the outside as you can imagine but the interior was immaculate. It was hauled from MI to Ga brand new and lived in for a couple months while their house was being blt. I had been looking for a camper for hunting and fishing. The old lady who owned it only wanted 200.00 dollars for it!. I couldnt get to my checkbook fast enough. I went through everything and everything works and functions as if it were new!It took a lot of clean up and tlc but I'm so proud of her and she is surely an attention getter down here in Ga. I am currently customizing the inside with new carpet, adding a bench across the back and have laminated the ceiling in wood and running tile behind the stove area and so much more to come!...Where can I locate new logo's? can anyone verify the year this one was made and how rare are they. Its hard to find any info down here. The real attention getter is how I tow her. Don't laugh! Ok go ahead and laugh.. On a really tall ball hitch from my reciever on my 2004 Dodge ram 4x4 but it pulls great and I pull it all over the mtns and dirt road. I will get to rigging it up the right way later. Right now I just enjoy pulling it to the woods! What an awesome project I've gotten myself into!

Welcome, and congrats on your new gooseneck! It's definitely one of the better '86s I've seen in a while, ESPECIALLY the front rock guard. It seems like people would put them up and leave them up, so they'd get a lot of sun that way, and then they wouldn't wash up there real good either, so they all generally look terrible. Yours doesn't look beat up or missing decals at all!

No direct replacement decals available that I know of. There's a guy on eBay who sells a brownish one that was used a couple years earlier (same shape as yours though). No striping available right now that I know of. A decal shop could reproduce it though, but it won't be cheap.

Hi JD,

Welcome and congrats on your special find! WOW...

You asked about info, We have a lot of info that can apply, just it will not be to an F-1850 specifically. The travel trailers where made using the same appliances and methods as the 5th wheel, just not the specific 5th wheel frame and hitch.

Look up top along the top of the forum screen. There is a tab there called "Files". Click it. In the files is a lot of info, even a brochure on your camper.

There is also a FAQ forum where many answers to frequent questions already show up. Like "\Where can I get a manual for my Sunline etc. "

A heads up since the camper has been siting so long, look over the roof seams really well along the edges to the walls and all vent pipes and roof vents. The sealant may be cracked and that lets water in and in need of repair. Also your roof, odds are high is not a full walk on roof. Need to put a tarp down and small pieces of plywood spread over the rafters to support you.

Good luck, have fun and looking forward to your pics!

John

@ Sunline Fan....Yeah, she's in awesome shape inside and out. I was working today on laminate behind the stove/ sink area. Coming along nicelly!...Thanks for the info on decals. I didn't figure they would be out there and actually the Sunline logos are in really good shape, it's just the tape/ stripes up the sides that are a little weathered and cracked. maybe I will locate some colored tape and try it that way...

@ Wasa 1500.....It was a heck of a clean up...She had moss growing all over top and sides but it has been well worth it.....I have never seen one like it before and have never seen another one like it down here either in Ga.....It's fixing to be a one of a kind when my renovation is done....
I'm sure I will be asking you a few questions as I go along since I see you have owned some older models

Hi JohnB.....Yes, it was a special find indeed......People still don't believe I only paid 200 for it! It's a big hit at deer camp or anywhere else I travel...
Wow, awesome tip about the plywood and tarp to walk on the top!....The roof was the very first thing I repaired but I guess I did it the hard way!...LOL....I'm 6'5'' and it was a long stretch for even me to re-seal everything....Fortunately I have never had a leak knock on wood
Thanks for the info on getting more info on it.....I hauled it to an RV shop down here and no one had ever seen anything like it so you can imagine how hard it is to find info.....
Looking forward to talking to you more .....I'm figuring out this site now and I can see it's gonna be great......Gonna haul it up to Michigan in the summer If I get it finished!
