Makeover of a 1992 C-951 Truck Camper

I introduced myself a few months back and promised an interesting update on my 1992 truck camper. It took weeks to get the correct Torklift parts in to secure the camper to the truck frame and then of course was enjoying summer/fall camping.

A prior owner was a backshop foreman at a Camping World Superstore and he rebuilt it for himself and his wife. Here are the things he did when he rebuilt it in 2009:

-Stripped the outside and repaired framing as needed
-Omitted front window and raised front of roof for more headroom over bed
-Recovered rubber roof
-Replaced siding with fiberglass
-Replaced all five remaining windows with modern units
-Added a full-size fan to bathroom vent
-Rebuilt the plumbing
-Added a queen-size foam mattress (very comfortable)
-Refinished inside walls in cabover with beadboard
-Installed new power supply
-Installed new am/fm/weather radio with antenna built into sidewall of camper
-Recovered floor with marine plywood and vinyl flooring
-Eliminated floor drain for shower*
-Replaced & recovered floor in bathroom
-Replaced gas valve & tanks
-Replaced all four corner jacks

* Other than damage from a leaking roof, he said the next most common area for water damage was the bathroom floor/drain in a floor where the shower shared the same floor as the bathroom itself.

I have attached a few pictures as well.

I see a picture.

It sure doesn’t look like a Sunline but looks nice.

Pretty slick I would have to buy a different truck though and learn how to park it!

It does require an 8' bed and at least a 250/2500 designation depending on who makes the truck. Parking is not different than parking a 23' pick up truck whether a 2500 or a 3500. It does not fit in regular parking space, but still much easier than towing a trailer.
