Hello. Looking at a 1997 24' for sale nearby
Hi. I have been researching a 1997 24' that is for sale nearby. The owner doesn't know the model number off hand. I thought I might be able to narrow it down knowing the size and using the photos. After browsing here, I figured I should post and see what you all think. I've never owned a travel trailer, but I grew up camping with my family. My wife has been wanting a camper the past few seasons, and we are trying to make it happen this year.
I have a list of things to look for when I go see it this weekend. The owner lives about an hour and a half away, and he won't be ready for me to come see it until then (he still has gear inside as you can see in the photos).
I'll be pulling it with an '03 Ford Excursion 6.0 diesel. What do you think? What should I look for when I go check it out?
I really like the forum, lots of good information to dig through.

Welcome! It's a 1994 Solaris T-2370. Your Excursion won't have any problem towing it, it'll be a nice pulling combo.
The exterior patio awning is missing, so you may want to check for water damage around where that mounts on the top, in case the holes weren't filled. It also looks like the microwave and refrigerator were replaced. Make sure both of these are secured before travel since they aren't really designed to travel like the original ones. Some people install small eye hooks and bungee cords to hold them in, and hold the refrigerator doors closed.

Thanks for the model # and the pointers. I will look closely at the awning mounting points. I'm terrified of water damage. Some of the repair projects I've seen here are giving me major anxiety!

Welcome!
The pics look good from what we can see here. Sunline Fan pointed out some good points. And yes, your EX will handle the trailer well. You will need a weight distribution hitch and anti sway controls to handle the camper loaded TW. And a brake controller if you do not already have one. We can help if you need it on any of those items.
See this same post I just made to another forum member. Rather than retyping, see here for comments on help on how to look for water infection. http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f7...tml#post142529
If you go to the top of the forum, look for a tab called FILES. Click it when logged in. Then scroll to Brochures and then to your model year and download a brochure. You can see the floor plans and some specs about that model.
Good luck this weekend and let us know how you make out.
John

I'll check out your post. I don't have any accessories yet, but I've added those things to my list! I wasn't sure what I would end up buying, so I haven't bought anything yet.
