Welcome to the forum. Spent some great years in Beaufort. Learned boating by cruising the Intercoastal Waterway between Charleston and Savannah.

Holiday Greetings from NC Coast!
Was so happy to find this Forum. I purchased a 2007 Sunline Que last March and traveled for 7 months in it. Most of my time was spent in the mountains of NC. volunteering in the Pisgah Forest at the Ranger Station.
Enjoyed the flyfishing, hiking, Mountain Music and other things to do in the area. The camper made a nice little cabin for me.

We have a QUE !!! I was so excited to see you on the forum We haven't taken it out yet, & are so anxious to go. We have the SE. Which one do you have SE or RE? How did it perform over the 7 months? You should be a QUE expert. Any tips or tricks that you discovered?

Sunline Que

We just purchased our first ever coach....a Sunline Que RE. Glad to hear yours served you well. Sounds like what we'd like to do if we could get away from work long enough.

Also interested in tips!

Hello Sunliners!
Was happy to hear from other Que's. Purchased my SE last Feb. in Oxford, AL. Since it was # 13 off the line there was some quirks with the first ones. Sunline was quick to help with anything that I needed. I went to the factory in Sept. and stayed in the parking lot for 2 days for them to make changes that I needed. Put in a phone line and Satelite line and tightened things up. The camper pulls extremely well. I use a Prodigy brake controller and a Reese heavy duty weight distributing hitch. Large trucks coming down both sides usually do not sway me with this set up. Pull with a Toyota 4-Runner Sport Edition 4x4 4.0 engine. Only brings my mileage down 4 to 4.5 to the gallon in the mountains. The rubber torsion ride with the wide flanged 15" wheels helps. I drove over 600 miles with a raw egg on the fridge shelf and it did not break. Even In very cold weather I can heat the camper with a small Pelonis ceramic heater comfortably if I am paying for electric to save Propane. Also have learned to use a one electic burner and electric Tea kettle purchased at Wally World to save on gas if I am paying for electic at a site. Do this because if I am in one place for a while then I do not have to remove the tanks as they are not easy for me to handle. Will try to think of more to tell you. This camper is perfect for me to handle on the road. Do not even need extra side mirrors.
Barbara in NC.

Barbara, Did you try pulling your QUE without the weight distribution hitch? We thought we'd try it first without, but if you've already performed that experiment we sure don't need to try something that doesn't work. We have a Chevy Trail Blazer & it seemed to tow great home from the dealer with just the tow ball. We were only on the highway for about 5 miles though & no trucks passed us. Our favorite thing to do is go down Rt. 81 into the mountains of VA / NC, & that is just infested with truckers. Also, do you pull your bed out every night? It seems like the 2 back rest cushions are just going to separate and fall right off the pulled out area. I also can't see putting the table into the closet every night. It bearly fits through the wardrobe door, & with clothes in there I just don't see us doing that. So, if you have any nifty solutions to my anticipated delimas, let me know ! Thanks Pam

Pam, My first camper was a Casita that I used a sway bar with. Friends in the NC mountains pulling a little Casita like mine with a sway bar blew a tire and the sway bar bent and the trailer came up beside and hit one side of the car, swung around and hit the other side. Missed a cement center by a few inches but no one was hurt.I have traveled the highway you are speaking of. Please invest in a good double hitch.
Better safe than sorry. Driving thru Atlanta at 55 to 60 to keep from getting run over was much more comfortable beng very stable.
Thats the limit I will pull at though! I usually just put the table in the shower in the evenng, after making sure it is dry. I sleep on the bed different ways. Does your camper have the folding table or the center post with swivel table. First built have posts. When I went to the factory they put an extra piece of plywood with velcro that I slip out when using the bed full and it works fine. Fits under the sofa part.

Pam....Another thing is I bought a spring loaded shower rod (red and green swirl to match the camper) at Wally world and put it near the floor between the bookcase and sofa and put my shoes upright behind it. Works great. Any more ideas anyone?
Barbara

Sometimes I'm a little slow on the trigger, but when I think of more ideas I'll post them!

Barbara,
Thanks for all the good info ! I LOVE the table in the shower idea - so simple yet I didn't think of it. We have the folding table which isn't very stable. I wish we had the pedestal. We put a canvas shoe pocket along the area where you have your shoe rod, & it fit perfectly there. I was very excited about that because the shoes were always a clutter issue in our PUP. I will have to get some velcro for the bed. There is plywood inside the backrests of ours, but not inside the seat cushions. We did a couple other mods which I posted on the modifications forum. Thanks for the hitch info too. I agree that better safe than sorry. Do you have the sway control bar as well, or just WD hitch?

Pam, I was in the Que for a while before I thought of placing things in the shower, except when I am on the road. Then I put a bath mat or some kind of cushioning so the jarring will not ruin the shower. You certainly have to use every little space. Also I use a Prodigy Brake Controller that I would not pull without.

We have the Prodigy, so we're all set with that. Guess what?.... traveling home on I81 on Sunday in the snow I saw 2 different SUV with TT rigs in the grass facing the wrong direction. Now I realize it was slippery, but my thought was what a true disaster both of those situations would have been without the WD hitches. As it was they were both intact...just heading north on the side of the southbound lane ! So, we will heed your good advice & go purchase the WD hitch...Oh & I also now know we'll never ever ever tow in a snow storm.
