Awning replacement

Hello all, I am looking to purchase a used 1997 Sunline "Slide Room" model is T-360 SR. I am paying $3,500 for it and wondering if this is a decent deal?
It seems to be in pretty good shape inside and out. The camper has been parked at a campground (I believe its entire life and that's where I plan to leave it as well). The front awning will probably need to be replaced due to the prior owners improperly setting it up. The bar is bent and the fabric ripped in a few places. It seems to be about 21 feet long. I tried to find out how much that is going to cost, without much luck, to replace and looking for suggestions on where to look.
The GVWR is 10,000.
I believe the overall trailer length is at least 30 feet long...not sure exactly.

Hi gman, you can buy awning fabric to fit your camper with no problem. There should be a tag on the awning to tell you what kind of awning it is. Dyers is where I bought my awning fabric from. They tell you how to measure and I think they also have the parts you may need. Three people can change an awning in about 2 to 3 hours. It took me about 2 hours, 3 subs, and a case of beer. Hope this helps. http://www.dyersonline.com Chuck

When you say the bar is bent, do you mean the support arm or do you mean the roller tube which your awning fabric attached to? If you are talking about the support arms they are fairly cheap. If you are talking about the roller tube, it will be between 700 and 800 dollars for a roller tube with fabric attached. To measure your awning for length, hook a tape measure to the front side of the right arm and then take the measure you get at the front side of the rear arm. The instructions you get from supplier and mfg say from center to center of arm but you get same results either way. Installing a new roller tube and fabric won't take as long as replacing the fabric but is still a three person job. Good luck. Dave

Can't one just measure the exiting awning fabric? That may not be as much fun.

I can see doing both, esp. if you change awning and/or awning fabric manufacturer.

Bunjin, yes you can just measure the existing awning fabric but, it may not be the right size. I changed my awing out this spring, measured it the way the supplier said to measure it and found out that the old awning was one foot smaller than it was supposed to be. Made a big difference. Chuck

Good point. Who's to say the awning fabric is the original, which may or may not explain what your situation was.
