Thomas A
A Sunline owner in New Stanton PA

My wife Carol and I tow our 2002 Sunline 2553 with a 1995 Dodge Ram V10. This is our 5th travel trailer (since 1970). Prior to the Sunline, we had 4 different Scotty's (remember them....turquoise and white?). We loved our Scottys, then the plant burnt and Scotty went out of this part of the business. so we went to a Sunline...I liked the idea that it was built in PA...then what happened??? Sunline went out of business. I feel like I am bad luck for trailer mfr's.

We had some real handling problems with the 2553, when we first got it. It is really sensitive to tongue weight. Turns out that the axles are too far forward and a change was made in (I was told) 2003. Hopefully this made it an easier trailer to handle.

We generally travel with our B/W Springer Spaniel.
It's good to be a part of this group. I look forward to reading more from all of you in the future.

Tom:

Welcome. We have a 2553 also. We love the floor plan and ours tows quite well. I believe they moved the fresh water tank forward on the later models which helps with weight distribution. Our first travel trailer was a used Scotty: It was a mistake (had to rebuild the front end due to water leaks), but it reminded me of the one my family had when I was a kid. The older style Scotty line has been brought back, but I wouldn't trade my Sunline for one. Here's a link if you care to check it out:

Again, welcome to the club.

Tom & Carol,

Welcome to the group. There is NO better place to get Sunline information than on here. Hopefully, we'll meet at the Meet n Greet if you can make it.
