The 2007 T-249SR Does Exist!

Years ago, Sunline gave me some promotional photographs of a trailer interior, and one appeared to be a 2499 with a slide. I confirmed they were working on that as a prototype, and to the best of my knowledge, only one was ever produced.

Well after years of hiding, here it is! Hopefully it ends up in the hands of some enthusiasts!

https://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/r...596527853.html

If anyone is near Asbury Park, NJ and takes a look at it, please send me more pics and the VIN! I don't know when in the model year they produced this.

That’s pretty awesome. Do you know if it’s the same 26’ long as the 2499? It probably has the heavier frame so wouldn’t have the tongue problem?

Wow!!!! Neat find.

Yes, I would say the camper is a little longer then the standard T2499. Maybe 12" +/- little. The slide flanges inside are about 6" wide and on both ends of the sofa. My 2004 T2499 had the longer sofa. Assuming they kept the longer sofa the camper would need to get longer for the slide flanges as the sofa was from the rear wall all the way to the stove.

You can also see the longer length behind the rear axle on the door side. There is more room on the T299SR between the rear axle fender and the doorway and from the doorway to the end of the camper.

I always wondered what they did with the furnace and the water heater as both were under the jack knife sofa. I see the water heater ended up under the kitchen sink and the furnace under the fridge. There is a cabinet next to the pantry that seems wider too.

See here the 2004 standard version

The door side

Non door side

Couch and stove

Rear window area

Longer couch

2004 vintage entertainment center and fridge

Who ever gets that T4299 SR will be getting a really nice camper. Hopefully they have the right truck for it. That camper even as a 2007 still is better than many new ones out there.

Thanks for posting Jon. Very interesting.

I spoke with the current owner (2nd owner) and have an appointment to look and take some more pictures tomorrow. I live about an hour from him. He said he did not camp with it, but used it for temporary housing while renting his residence at the shore. Original owner supposedly did camp extensively, but was meticulous in upkeep. In fairness, I did explain that I am not looking to buy, but may be able to generate some interest in the group. He was ok with that and interested in what little history I had of that model. Is there anything in particular someone wants me to look for? I will try and get the weight/VIN sticker in the bathroom cabinet and some better pics of the inside cupboards/closets.

Awesome, thanks!! I'm particularly interested in that weight sticker, as well as any Sunline paperwork in the owner's manual. The quality control certification and floorplan identifier in particular. The floorplan ID, if they even created one for it, would tell us dimensions and capacities.

Jim,

Get a pic of the VIN sticker on front left outside of the camper. That will have the GVWR for it and tire sizes. Odds are high it is 7,000 # GVWR just like your new one.

Also curious what size main frame I beam shape they used. If you have a chance use a tape measure on the height of the I beam. It should be at least 6" but might be an 8". Again I would see your new one and this camper to have the same frame.

Thanks

John

John, remember my outside label and inside weight sticker don't match. Outside says 8600lbs. gross, while inside (and actual) says 7000lbs. I'll get as much info as I can. Maybe try and find original owner's name to track chain of possession.

Wow! That is awesome looks like it in great condition
Look at how bright the decals are still ?

But makes me sad at the same time
If Sunline had not went out of business what wonderful new models could have been manufactured??!

Hopefully it has power to it too, and you can get a picture with the slide out to compare. With it in, it looks like just a big divider between the couch and stove, but we'll see where this living room really shines with the slide out.

It would eliminate the concerns people had about cooking right next to the stove, prompting some to make a homemade shield.

Just finished looking at the T-249sr. Extremely clean inside. I will post pics later. Awning (rolled up) looks like it might need work. Frame is 4" A and 6" main. Looks like it never saw a WD hitch. Slide is similar to the 257sr and gives more room to the living area. Extended, it still has couch close to stove. Exterior has a few dents in the front. Current owner has had it for one year and said he doesn't have time to use it. It does have the pull out pantry next to the wardrobe, opposite the stove. I personally don't care for using chair and couch for meals. I like the dinette seating for meals and using couch for entertaining/relaxing. The kitchen also seems small with very little counterspace. I could not locate a tongue weight number. I would assume it would be less than T-2499 because of the slide weight.

Hi Jim,

There was a "goof" on your 8,600# label. The tires and axles on the camper are not rated for the 8,600# even. Sunline was always good to us and put axles and tires to hold the entire GVWR. Somehow, who ever printed out your VIN tag had a mix up and it did not get caught in the final inspection.

Hoping this special T2499SR is correct.

Thanks

John

Sorry I did not take a lot of inside pictures. On the 249sr, they made the pantry a small pullout and put a wardrobe next to it by eliminating the recessed tv area near the rear door. It is now just a triangular shelf. What was the recessed area is now the inside of the wardrobe. The 249sr also has the added storage in the slide. Total length seems to be the same as the T-2499. It has a 17' awning, and owner says the box measurement is about 22'.

Thanks Jim for the info.

There would not be a tongue weight number on the camper. None of them have that. The only reference we have on TW short of measuring it on a scale, is in the brochures.

By the manufacturing date of October 2006, that is close to one of the newest Sunlines one is going to find.

On the overall length, this will be hard to know for sure unless someone measures ball to rear bumper, but comparing the outside and inside, the T249SR is slightly longer which is about has to be.

2007 T249SR door side. Look at the distance from the rear tire wheel well to the door.

2004 T2499 door side

T249SR couch

2004 T2499 Couch - The couch fills the exact distance from the rear wall to the stove. No slide flange moldings.

The difference in overall length appears to be the addition of the slide flanges. Both add up to about 8 to maybe 10" longer in overall length

Thanks again. Hope the new owner can become a club member. That is for sure a collectors item.

John

Hi Jim,

Thanks for documenting this! It's interesting that it was completed in October 2006, and then was signed for by a dealer only on 11/20/06, without ever being dispatched. So it was truly a Sunline sold and shipped after shutdown, as expected from that date.

Did you by chance get a picture of the full quality control certification? Also, did you notice a white page in the book (possibly in the very front or second to front) that had a bunch of dates on it and the Sunline logo up in the corner?

I found those promotional photos! After digging out the hard copies that I thought were them, I found they were actually Que. These two were posted in the eBay ad for the company intellectual assets. At first I thought it was a regular 2499, then I realized nope, there's a slide there! So I guess we know it was done enough inside for pictures by 9/29, despite the build date in October, but notice the missing kitchen outlet yet. Only the QCC date would tell for sure when it was done.

I believe it is the same trailer, between the interior fabric and wood being the same, plus the fabric pattern in the headboard matches.

Sunline Fan, I agree this is probably the same trailer, right down to the bedding! The screw that holds the clock is still there. John, I did see the entire QCC, but only took a picture of the corner with the VIN. The documentation owner's book looked complete when I leafed through it. I wish I had more time to get into it, but the guy had to go back to work.
