T-249SR

Since JohnB mentioned a 2499 with a slide in the topic about the 195SR, that got my creative juices flowing. Let me know what you think:

I'm estimating it would be about 28-29' long, since I added an extra two feet to the awning. I added the extra chair because I like to have two chairs, plus who wants a slideout going right next to the rear picture window? I'll bet this would be a lot better balanced unit once loaded since a full storage compartment up front would counteract the extra weight of the slide room.

That is the EXACT TT I want. We could leave the table up all the time or put it down. Or we can put a table and chairs in there.

The T2499 layout is unique, just if it was about 2 1/2 feet longer and the couch slid. WOW. It’s a deal.

Heads up though. In your creative juices you are sliding the Furnace and the HW heater. While I could get real creative with the HW heater, having the furnace and heat ducts in a slide and getting the heat duct to slide right might be something to think a lot on.

I see you added a cabinet by the pantry and entertainment center. Good need more counter space.

Now all we need to do is get Sunline to build this and I'll show up to buy it. Most all my custom mods to mine would even fit in there. They have customer 1 just waiting.

Thanks

John

PS Kitty may have some inside scoop on the proposed slide on the T2499 that was being talked about. She had some pretty good connections to folks in the know.

John,

I can see your point about the WH and Furnace. I didn't think about that, but I guess the furnace could be put where the stove is and the WH just in front of that. The stove would probably have to be moved to the other side by the pantry, because you wouldn't want the WH or furnace exhaust coming out right by on the patio.

I'll see what I can do.

Here's another option, a DS. If it's completely impossible to put both the WH and furnace under the sink/cabinet area, the front slide could always be deleted (keep the bed turned) and the WH stuck under there.

BTW, the large thing in front labeled "WARD" is a large cedar closet. For all you guys having to add airbags to your truck...just make the DW clean out the closet!

Well maybe we should all pool our $$$ and buy Sunline!!!

We would have a perfect TT already on the planning board and two customers waiting....but I want a walk on roof as an option on mine, along with day/night shades!

I like version 2 - I don't like the bedroom slide!

Make that 3 customers! The last one is awsome. I never liked the stove by the sofa was so glad to see you move it. And the bedroom slide gives so much room for storage! Can we have outside pass through storage along the bottom of the wardrobe? That would be nice.

I think a walk on roof is possible. I'm thinking NO MORE RUBBER ROOFS. It may be slightly heavier and cost a little more, but a Fiberglass roof would hold up so much better and be so much more maintenance free. Having the fiberglass roof would also make it strong enough to walk on. And then there's always the aluminum roof, which should be a recognized option, not hidden like how Kitty found it.

Day/Night shades are great, but from experience with them in the MH, they sometimes get twisted funny and come apart. I personally hate them but my mom loves them. I guess it could be an option!

Wow, I have three potential customers already!

I guess there could be a pass through under the closet, but I was thinking the WH might have to go on the ODS right in front of the slide. I'm running out of options of places to put that and the furnace, so the WH might need to go up front there if they both won't fit by the sink.

Start putting version numbers on these things on the image..... Now my creative juices are a flowing.

What we have here is, Sunline Campers, create you own....

We are going to have to keep a few things in mind. Weight. I have measured, weighed, calculated my T2499 about 6 ways from next Tuesday... and can tell just about where every pound adds to what axle and tongue.

The longer versions plus slide is going to put us over the 7,000 GVWR of the camper when we add cargo in and fresh water towing. BUT there may be a few versions.

A 7,000# GVWR layout
A 8,600# GVWR layout
A 10,000# GVWR layout

Taking the existing T2499 layout, sliding the couch, leave the door where it is and move the rear wall out say 2 feet could stay in a 7,000# GVWR range.

I can see ways to get he HW heater to slide with the couch and deal with the hoses flexing.

The furnace and ducts are the problem. I'm thinking, give me a few moments/hours/days. This one is doable.

John

PS we now have 3 customers all lined up. Now all we need is Sunline back.

John,

By moving the stove/micro to the new cabinet, I figured that empty spot where the stove/micro was could be used for the furnace. It could sit in the bottom of the cabinet and there could still be access to it from both sides. That's why it couldn't go under the sink area- it'd be too far in to access. Also, with it being by that corner cabinet, ducts could go out the front and side of the cabinet.

As for the WH, I guess part of the pegboard storage could be deleted, or it could be stuffed in the base cabinet of the front ODS Wardrobe, next to the bed. It would just eliminate the pass-through storage. I don't know about you, but I sort of find the pass through storage a pain. Stuff gets crammed in the middle and you can't get to it.

Here's another option I just thought of. How about raising the two rear chairs up say 18", with a step up to that platform, and putting the WH in that rear ODS corner. Then, the rest of the space could be used for an enclosed storage area, with a door on the back. It would help even out the weight from the front storage. You could feel like a king sitting up high and see everything going on. There's plenty of height to do that. It would solve all the issues with the appliances plus leave room for a storage area under the couch, with an exterior door, for storing W,E, & S supplies. I always like a dedicated area reserved for those things so it doesn't have any contact with other camping equipment. The holding tanks could be right over the axles, so wet or dry, it wouldn't make a lot of difference in tongue weight, compared to if they were all the way forward or all the way back.

I don't know if I mentioned it before, but I was estimating the length of the SS model to be about 28-29' and the DS model (or SS with bed turned sideways not slid) to be about 30-31'. Gee, Carl Kern should start in on this conversation, this was his specialty!

I was just thinking, inverting this floorplan would make a great Front Engine Diesel (FRED) ~36' MH! Either that or put the bed up and make a FW.

Jon

Hey Jon,

WOW, this is fun. But, ya know, the sad part is I came "SO" close to asking Sunline to put a sofa slide in my 2499 when I ordered it. Boy, am I kicking myself now

OK, back to dreaming. What about moving the stove and sink to the door side, and the fridge, pantry to the drivers side side. I love having a sink on the patio side of a trailer. And with the 1/2 height entertainment center you would have a lot more "space" to use, as long as you had a wall mounted flat panel TV. The W/H and furnace could then be under the fridge & pantry.

WOW, what a fantasy

Kitty

Kitty,

I'd be glad to play around with it, but what version were you thinking of doing that to? The SS or DS?

If you move the stove sink will you still have counter space? The number 1 thing on my next trailer must have list is counter space. The QUE has me spoiled.

Hey Jon,

Playing around with the SS is fine, since ya know I'm actually "Slide Shy" anyway. WOW, we sure can design a great floorplan !!

NOW I see what Kitty is saying - the TV cabinet could be used as counter space if you have the TV on the wall. A heated enclosed underbelly would be nice too.

I hope all you guys (and gals) know you're looking at probably a $35-40,000 trailer here! Add auto tracking satellite, electric dump valves, leather furniture, and a whole bunch of other goodies, and it'll probably be up around $70-80k. We all dream big, don't we!

I'll see what I can do as to a 249SR SS with the reversed kitchen.
