Stove igniter does not spark
Hi Everyone,
Been a while since I have been here. Don't know why there is so much good info and great people. I need to log in more often.
I am having a minor issue with my 2007 264SR. The stove igniter will not spark causing us to use a match to light the burners. I get clicking sound at all. Just to be clear this stove DOES NOT have an igniter knob. Each burner knob has a LITE position on it. Could there be a fuse for this?
Thanks,
Jim

Yes, there should be a fuse. On my converter it is a 3 amp fuse in position #6 but I am sure your converter is a different model. My fuse is labled OPT. ELEC.IGN.OVEN.

I think that fuse is for an optional igniter for the oven, as opposed to the stove burners. I would check for a disconnected wire on the stovetop burners.

What I have seen a number of times including my own is that they wrapped the excess wire for the igniters around the burner tubes and the heat melts the insulation and causes it to short to the tube. I used electrical tape to repair them and rearranged them away from the burners.

We have the electric stove top igniters and yes ours is like Gene's with a small fuse in the 12 volt panel.
I have not yet seen a gas oven electric igniter in a camper oven. They may make them as glow plugs are common on house gas ovens.

I went out today and pulled that 3 amp fuse and it killed my stovetop ignitors.

Reading John's post made gave me a hint at an answer for my own question on the stove igniter. For the first time yesterday, we wanted to use the oven and since the top burners have electronic igniters, I just assumed the oven did as well. I held the knob for the oven in at the pilot position expecting to hear a click, click, but nothing. So, I looked inside and to me it seemed to look a lot like the pilot on our 92 Sunline oven that had to be lit with a flame. So, I used a lighter, the pilot lit and we were able to use the oven.
Anyway, it seems then that the top burners only are electronic ignition, at least on ours. Is this pretty common in Sunlines?

Rich,
I believe it is very common that all the Sunline Atwood ovens use a manual pilot light oven even if electric ignition on the top burners
It might even be a safety code for campers. It takes more work and a deliberate action to light the gas pilot. Think if the knob just got accidentally bumped on the oven, easy to do and it lit on it's own?
I do not know that as a fact, but suspect there may be something to that
The furnace, fridge and HW heaters all have electronic ignition but they do not have the same accidental action if turned on "inside" the camper. Those devices burn and vent outside the camper. The oven vents inside
While I like the convince of the auto ignite , I don't really know I would want it on the oven for this concern. I know our main burner knob gets accidentally rotated part way on, a few times a season. We use the oven handle for a towel rack and inside the oven for kitchen gear storage. For sure do not want it lighting up by accident...
That said if they had a manual glow plug, that could have safeties built in, that may be a step up from the grill lighter method. Glow plug does not power up unless oven door open and pilot knob engaged etc.
Will see if anyone responds to actually having a auto start Wedgewood oven.
Thanks
John

Those stoves are standard in most RV's and travel trailers. It is not a Sunline thing. My Cougar has the same stove.
You might find auto-ignition in the high end stuff.

OK, thanks for the replies, now I know it's not something I have to fix because it's broken!
Thanks,
Rich
