Replacing carpet

We have a 2000 Solaris with pink carpeting which my husband hates. We just went to the 2016 RV show and couldn't find a unit that we liked as well as the Sunline so are considering new carpet. Has anyone replaced their carpet with the slide out? Am having trouble visualizing how to do it or what would be involved. Any suggestions?

Hi, your model does not have the flat floor slide so replacing the carpet is easier. I would remove the sofa and dinette. At that time you could inspect the slide floor for any water damage. When I replaced the carpet in mine I put luan paneling on the slide floor to stiffen it up. Sunline used lots and lots of staples to tack their carpeting down. Taking the carpet out will be the most time consuming part of the job. Good Luck!

Thanks bubbabc, one other question though. What is involved with the carpet that is in the main part of the trailer and goes under the edge of the slide out floor? My big worry would be doing it wrong and having it be messed up when sliding in and out. Thanks again.

I put carpet in my T1700 with standard tack carpet strips.

Just remove the carpet and then slide the new in under the slide room. It's actually a lot easier to do then the flush floor slide. You can't use a tack strip under the slide you will have to use staples.

This may help, mine is a 2004 and has the Lippert slide mechanism and is the flush floor setup. Your slide drive I believe is a Barker unit if you have a couch/dinette slide. I did not notice your model number to look it up.

We have a jack knife sofa and table and chairs. What I am showing is the rub board that was screwed to the wall. The screws are buried in the carpet and hard to see, but they are in there. Feel around between the fibers and you will find the square head drive screws. If your does not have this strip, then they held it down another way.

On the slide sides, I had to use a sheet rock utility knife to cut the rub flush with the wall.

Here are the pics, hope this helps

Couch removed. The rug board is at the junction of the carpet at the wall. It holds the rug down to the slide floor/wall. Also have to take the couch supports at the wall out. Screws buried in that too.

All the screws used to hold that one 5.5 ft long strip

The rug board itself

Then carpet folds back once scored at wall

Pas exposed and then removed

Pad pulled back. Slide floor rot in the corner. That is another post on how to fix.

Hope this helps and good luck.

John

How far under the carpet does the linoleum go? Although mine is a 2004, it looks exactly like this.
