Hi John...

Here's the fender heights, as Kitty measured them...

unloaded:

Front=39-1/4" Rear=41-5/8"

Fully hooked up:

Front=39-1/4" Rear=41"

Also, here's a pic of the weight sticker... For your viewing pleasure!

H'mm. I see we have not had the 1 ton WD setup discussion on here yet. I learned some new things about 2 stage 1 ton suspension. The helper springs add another diminsion to WD settings.

Once you get the camper loaded and get to doing some more scaled weights, let's talk on some optimization things. The front axle numbers Kitty reported would be golden on a 3/4 ton or 1/2 ton and whree where I was for about 8 months until I figuire out the Ford 1 ton rear suspension. There are options for heavy tongues on 1 tons that ride soother and actually feel more stable left to right in the truck. That will be a post in itself.

When you get to the point of loaded, and ready to head to the scales, lets talk about a few quicks settings you can do at the scales and then we can sort the rest out later at home. And see which tows better.

Now that I see the weigth sticker.... something sticks out. That changed between 2003 and 2004 models. And then there is that 400# difference of what ever Sunline did between 2003 and 2004.

Here is Kitty's

Here is mine.

OK what lookls different and it's not the UVW.

So how was the camput last night? I know we have gone out to the camper and had dinner before. Could not make it out to the CG, so that was next best...

John

Good Morning SOC ,

Well, I haven't gotten a chance to take any "good" interior pictures, but WOW, it's huge inside :P

I'll try to get some good pictures today. I am "planning/hoping" to get started with moving "stuff" back in. But, that also comes with decisions, like WHAT do I REALLY NEED to put back in, and what is just excessive. Hum, did I just say I "might" have been excessive

OK, on to answer JohnBs' question about our first night in the 320. We purchased the trailer a good 2 hours from home, it had been a VERY VERY long day, we were already extremely tired before we even started to drive home, needed something to eat, so while we stopped at the scales close to the dealer, we then did ole MickeyD's for something to eat, then headed home. Did I mention we were very tired, but we were happy as could be, but tired. Knew we wanted to spend the night in the 320, so what do we do, what else, a stop at ole' Wally World where I pick up a comforter set & 2 pillows, that solved the problem of me finding bedding that I piled, err "placed" in the shed . OK, now we have stuff to make up the bed for the night, great, lets just get home, park it, hook up the electric and call it a night. OK, now the rains started , and at times it really poured , and way too many idiots drive entirely too fast in the rain , especially near our rig. OK, yeah, finally home in the long driveway, BUT the monster 320 will not fit in Sunnys' rvport so that parking spot was not usable, so a new temporary parking place was needed. Tried another one, naw that's not gonna work, how about this one, nope, it's got "such & such issue" , ok, how about we try this?, no it's got that other problem . We were so tired we were getting silly, so we turned off the fridge, and pulled the rig in as far as we could get the truck UP hill on the driveway, still pouring down rain, and said, that's it, too tired to do anymore thinking or jocking around we turned the truck off (it was nosed into the bushes on the embankment) FINALLY . Hooked up some power, looked for the slide button, I extended ithe slide while Gary watched outside Great now we can get to the bed, pulled the new bedding outta the bag, got the bed made quickly, sat at the dinette, just looking around, saying how beautiful it was. Called my girlfriend from NJ who was next door at sons (her & her mom were visiting, they are future inlaws & life time friends). They came over in the pouring down rain for a "tour" They left, we sat & admired it some more, and then finally decided we needed to get some sleep. OK, we looked at the bed, and the head of it was quite elevated , so too tired to do anymore leveling, that's how we slept on it We both slept great, that pillow top mattress is very comfortable, the elevated orientation is not something I want to do on a regular basis . But, next thing I know it was morning, and back to jocking 320 around in the yard til we could get it level, I had to leave to go do my greyhound "meet n greet", Gary took care of things while I was gone, and I came back to a nicely leveled, stablized, electrically powered 320. But, the yard is very wet, so we tried to limit trips in & out. It's now monday morning, and the sun is shining , so hopefully the yard will dry up (light sage green carpet will not fair well with mud" ). I called last night to hopefully get a load of stone delivered today, so Gary can bring the dozer home and make a nice new parking location for 320. MY mission for the day, "should I choose to accept it, is to start to "load" 320. Hey, maybe I better do it quickly since Gary is at work

Sorry to be so long winded, but it was so exciting, even with the long day, being so tired, hungry, the horrible rain, the mud, the unlevel parking, but it'll be "OK" as Gary always tells me.

He really does spoil me :P

A test.... well a little. Actually I did not notice the propane... . Odd the weight of propane/gallon actually is listed lower in 2004 then in 2003??? I saw 15 gallons and knew that was 30# LP tanks so I read right by it.

OK I'll give some hints. It deals with the water. And no, in 2003 water still weighs 8.3#/gallon like it does in 2004

Kitty

Glad your first night went well despite a few unique events…..

Moving from a smaller camper to a larger one is an adjustment. I’m sure you did the same thing from your one before the T2499. When we went from PU to the T2499 and after putting all the PU stuff in, we said Wow now what do we do with all that extra room?

Well you know how that goes….sooner or later all that excess room some how fills up and becomes normal. Then you move up again…. It does not seem to matter where you put stuff, you will re-arrange at least 3 times the 1st year to get in just that right spot.

Being a monster…. That wears off in time. Yes right now it feels like a dance hall in side…and the slide with an extra 2 ½ feet is…. In time it becomes the normal and you really enjoy having the space.

The only time I long for the smaller space of the T2499 is when I go to wash it…. I start with the roof, then the sides, then the awning and if I have any energy left, the F350. The first spring cleaning from the dreaded black streaks is the worst, but take it a section at a time.

Like I said in another post, hauling it. There is an adjustment to backing it up and turning. For backing up, and with a long wheel base PU, drive 8 feet past the camp site from rear TT tire to the down stream side of the pad. Then when backing up, crank the Ford hard and she will go right in. After a few times you will be just as comfortable as with the T2499. Remember what your drive around for a living that is big and yellow? I have no doubts in my mind that after about 2 to 3 times you can put that camper anywhere…

Turning around in our yard. Yes this is an adjustment. We had the same problem the 1st time. Oh boy how in the world am I going to turn this thing around….but after about 3 times of figuring out what works and does not work, it become normal once again. Now we did not have the bull dozer…had the dirt blade on the back of the Ford 3500 tractor and 18 yards of stone…

You have a real nice camper there and the oak is just down right beautiful. Have fun in your loading experience. And just think, the modifications counter has been reset! You can have mod fun all over again….

Thanks for sharing your 1st adventure with us. It brings back memories of both our first trip and campouts in both. How to get a full range of emotions all in one camping trip…

John

Wow...how exciting!! Congrats.
BTW - Were you coming through the Hagerstown area on I-81 around 5:30pm? I was on the northbound side and think I saw you heading south! I remember seeing the newer Sunline with bunks. Well anyway...have fun!
Rich,

I do believe that was probably us. We also got lucky and caught a couple of those really really heavy downpours, but it was dry at the house, 6 miles west of WV exit 12.
