Weighed the T-320SR and my pickup today

Kitty and I went camping this weekend and decided to hit the Flying J scale, before going home. This is with the 320 fairly loaded (Kitty was busy this week!)

I weighed my truck separately on Friday, so I know it's weight already.

My truck weighs 7,900lbs. I didn't get front and rear axle numbers though...

Here's the results from Flying J:

Front axle: 4000lbs
Rear axle: 4940lbs
Trlr axle: 7560lbs

Gross weight: 16,500lbs

Compare those numbers to the empty trailer, when we weighed it hooked to Kitty's truck...

Front axle: 4640lbs
Rear axle: 5120lbs
Trlr axle: 6420lbs

Gross weight: 16,180lbs

Since I know the weight of my truck (7,900lbs) I now know that the trailer weighs 8600lbs.

How do the numbers look to you, John???

HUM, I was out there friday in the HEAT, with a scale and weighed EVERYTHING that I put in each compartment, and I even have the bins labeled with item name & weight, so now I know I have 1400 lbs to fill up ??????????????????????????????? Actually probably more, as there was last minute stuff put inside( Gary did it), that WILL NOT be staying in the coach at all.

I think Gary snuck some stuff in there

Well, you are missing a few numbers to tell how WD is doing, but this much seems to fit.

If the loaded T320SR is 8,600# GVW that fits. Since your F250 gained 1,040# with WD engaged, I’m guestimating your loaded tongue could be in the ~ 1,150 to 1,200# range.

Using the 1,200# tongue estimate that is about 14% loaded tongue. Using the 1,150# estimate that is about 13.4% tongue.

If those tongues weigth pan out, then those are good stable tongue weights in relation to the loaded GVW. It also means you do not have room to add any rear boxes that will reduce that tongue weight.

Now doing more gustimating…. The T320 empty axle weight with WD engaged was 6,420# and now the loaded axle weight with WD engaged is 7,560# is a 1,140 # difference.

Guestimating you gained about 200# TT axle weight from WD, this then lowers the number to 1,140-200 = 940# but then adding in tongue weight gain, guestimating 350# well that adds back to about 1,290# of stuff added to the T320 since you scaled it bringing it home. More or less pending how tools ended up in there…. .

I can’t really tell a lot more since the weights are not in the right order. The rest are educated guesses.

Next time you go, if you can get these 3 weight sets, then we can calculate LOTs.

1. TV and TT loaded and hitched, WD engaged. Need front and rear TV axles independent values plus both TT axles.

2. TV and TT loaded and hitched, NO WD engaged. Then while right on the scale from step 1. undo the WD bars and let ball hold all the dead weight. Take another 3 scale setup reading. Need front and rear TV axles independent values plus both TT axles.

3. TV only. No TT. Go unhook. Need front and rear TV axles independent values

From those 3 sets of weight all axle by axle we can figure out most everything you ever wanted to know and forgot to ask. We can compare these against the TV axle ratings and TV GVWR and GCWR and hitch WD bars etc.

If you do this at a truck stop, have to go inside and explain what you are up to as they are sort of clueless on weighing TT's. If you tell them after the 1st reading the rest are adjustments and reweighs, the price is cheaper. Pilot is about $1 for reweighs, Flying J's are sometimes free.

If you have access to that grain or recycle scale you where talking about, that will work too and less hassel dealing with a bunch of semis whizzing around you.

It's an asphalt plant and I've been given the "Okie dokie" to use their scale. I'll get the weights you asked for, asap...

We went camping this weekend and had a blast! I do have to add, that towing the 320 with a mostly-full black tank is no fun! It changed the towing characteristics dramatically! Once we stopped at Flying J and dumped it, it towed like a dream again!

OK if you want to know the reason on what the black tank cause is, get me these numbers and I can calculate what it did to tongue weight.

1. Tow ball to center of front TT axle.

2. Center distance of front to rear TT axle.

3. Distance from tow ball to center of black tank.

4. Distance from tow ball to center of gray tank.

5. Distance from tow ball to center of fresh tank.

And what are the 3 tank capacity in gallons

I can tell you a rough estimate of tongue weight changes and what effect that has on TT stabilty.

Curious myself to know just how far down on % tongue weight you went.

Glad camping was fun. We go out again this coming Friday. Yeh!

Also FYI, I have put NOTHING under the bed, and the only thing in the front outside storage is "10" Lynx levelers and an aluminum 4' level !!

Also, soon I will have calculated the weight of what I have put in the other outside storage compartments, but this Sunline did go on a diet. I have been weighing "everything" that has gone into each compartment.

SO, "IF" it gets too heavy, it HAS to be Garys' fault

Kitty
