Towing out of the yard?

I need opinions on whether we can get QUEtSE out of the back yard without distroying the grass or getting stuck. Right now we have about 5 inches of snow still on the ground in the shady area we have to pull her through. If we wait until it melts the yard will be mud soup, so that's not an option. We'd have to pull through the snow a distance of about a football field. First...will the 4WD TrailBlazer be able to pull her through the snow? We're kind of thinking if we hook her up tomorrow morning while the ground is still pretty frozen from the night time that the underlying grass won't be distroyed. But then we could end up with the whole rig stuck. Anyone ever tried this? Or should we just cancel our weekend plans? Anyone shoot that groundhog yet?

I used to work in the Excavating Business and anytime we had to move equipment and didnt want to ruin the ground, we would wait till the ground re-frooze and wouldnt have a problem.

Basically if you dont get it out now, once it thaws and you have mud, unless you buy a whole lotta 4x8 sheets of plywood, you'll be waiting till the ground hardens up come late spring. That or replacing a bunch of sod!

Watch the weather and wait till you're going to be right around the freezing mark and pull it out at night. Early morning is the best as the ground has had all night long to harden up. You might want to get at least a few sheets of plywood to keep on hand incase you start to sink. That or long planks of 2x12 for the tires to ride on.

Good Luck

Pam,

I agree with Emam. Try to do it when the ground is as frozen as possible. I had to pull our car hauler (w/ car on it- about 6000 lbs) out of the storage garage through a side door the other day, and once I get it out the door, I immediately have to make a 90 degree turn. The trailer is going to Florida for spring break in a few weeks, so I wanted to get it out and position it inside the front door (where there's a concrete driveway) before the ground thawed too much. I left some marks, but it wasn't bad at all. Of course, I chose to do it on the one day that was 70 here!

Now move to a place where the ground doesn't freeze.
