Towing a trailer with motorcycle behind camper

Will the bumper on a 1983 T1550 be strong enough to hook a 5 x 10 open trailer with a 800lb motorcycle on and safely tow it? Does anyone have any ideas on it or should i have a shop weld something to the frame to support a hitch? Just dont want to loose my bike and trailer going down the road but would like to take it along on our camping trips. Any info will greatly help. Thank you Omer.

I wouldn't do it, I'd have a hitch welded on. The bumper is rated for 100# max, and that is often maxed out by a spare tire alone.

Also, make sure to check the laws, because not many states allow double towing like that. More states allow towing a bumper pull trailer behind a fifth wheel, but few allow double towing of two bumper pulls.

If it's any thing like my T1700 it's nothing more then sheet metal and I have heard stories of them actually falling off!

I had a buddy of mine lose a tow after a tire went flat. There was just enough tug to snap it like a twig. I agree... bad idea!

Get it welded buddy! Much safer that way!
