TOWING A SECOND TRAILER

I would like to tow a small motorcycle trailer behind my 23' 25th. anniversary model camper. Does anyone have any info on this. It is legal in my state.

Here are some links.
Not sure how up to date the info is.

The other issue would be putting a hitch on the TT and keeping your weight balanced. There are a few threads on RV.net about towing a second trailer behind a TT.

The only other option that I can think of is strapping your bike into the bed of a pick up truck. Far as my knowledge as a professional driver, I can only hazard a guess that if you came up with a viable solution on how to safely connect the two trailers together, would you be required to get a CDL with the endorsement for more than one trailer? Remember that when a semi pulls a double or a triple, there is a dolley 5vr in between rigs. If you have ever seen these combos on the road, you can see that they sway with any wind or dips in the road. Your tow vehicle should be heavy and powerful enough to control the sway and be able to brake and pull safely. This is putting you into at least a 3/4 or one ton truck. That brings you around full circle to putting the bike in the bed. Probably cheaper too to buy the ramp. Also, if your bike is a larger one like a Harley, would you like to chance of losing it if you lost control of the combo set up?

Second thought. What type of braking will be on the second trailer and how would it connect into your brake controller? What would the reaction of the second trailer be in a panic stop? The big rigs are all connected into the same air brake system including the wheels on the tow dolly.

Not trying to be a party pooper, but I always put safety first when I go down the road. Nothing ruins the trip more than an accident or breakdown.

I've got doubles/ triples on my CDL-A, and I, personally, would not ever do this.

If they were both the same TYPE of trailer, maybe. Certainly not with a coach (boxy, can't see around) pulling a bike (small, light, flippable) trailer.
Two coaches, two bikes trailers, even two boats, but not a big'un and a little'un.

You would never know if something bad was going on way back there (flat, flipped, loose bike, etc.).

If they were the same size and type, then you could at least see the sides of the second trailer (and the wheel area too).

Hey Mack,
When I was a kid my Dad bought a one wheel trailer from Sears (& Roebuck). It was a smaller version of the Hitchiker you have posted. Of course my Dad over loaded the heck out of it with our camping gear, made kitchen boxes and pulled by a 54 Dodge. (yes I am dating myself) We never had an issue with it, replaced with a new tire once and a while, and towed that thing all over the Mtns of WV and TN.

Now THAT's a smart-looking product, and it takes away the other articulation.

Way cool (and probably someone who had an issue with a second trailer thought it up....).

It looks like it wouldn't be too hard to make either, for someone with welding skills...

You would probably have to lose your rear bumper and tie in the carrier frame to the TT frame though- I don't think the hollow-core bumpers would hold it up too long.
