Sway control on T-1550

We're now a two RV family, a Bounder and now a 1982 T-1550. My wife asked me if we needed to have sway control. Does a unit this light require sway control? What companies make an appropriate unit for this weight?

Thank you

Hi Norm,

I didn't use a sway on my 1550, but I only travelled with it on the highway once. The previous owners did have a bracket installed for one though. As for brands, I'd recommend Draw-tite/Reese. They build an excellent product. Between my dad and I, we have four WD hitch set-ups and all of them are either Draw-tite or Reese. BTW, Draw-tite and Reese are the same company.

Hi Norm,

As I said before, my best friend had a 1982 1550 for 6 years. Towed mostly on the interstate, he used a single Reese friction sway control. He didn't have any sway, it was used in case of emergency manovers to help keep the trailer under control. You know how you drive, but you sure don't know about all the other nuts on the road. For the low cost, I'd say it's pretty cheap protection.
