Welcome to the club!

I believe this thread should be in the towing/tow vehicle forum, but here's what I found with a google search..

"This is becoming a common problem with modern EVAP systems. Most EVAP systems have a vent hose inside the filler neck that can get push in or kinked and cause the gas to back up and shut of the pump nozzle. Take a long necked screwdriver and push down the gas filler neck flap. With a flashlight, look down the neck and see if the vent tube is pushed down or twisted. If so, you need to use extra long needle nose pliers and try and pull it up and back in position. Another thing that can cause this problem is if you over fill your tank you will have liquid fuel go into the evap system and clog up you EVAP charcoal canister. The canister is only designed foe fuel vapor not liquids, so if it gets soaked the escaping fumes from your tank have no place to go and your pump will keep shuting off."

Hope it helps you.

Gary

I have also found that some pumps will pump slower than others. When I run into one that is slow I'll pull the gas nozzle out some, maybe inserted on a few inches, instead of cramming it all the way in. This seems to allow the air to excape the tank better. Just be careful not to try to pump with the nozzle outside the fill opening.

I had a 2003 2500 Suburban do that too. Especially on hot summer days. The DW could not get any gas in it... I always heard about it.

I found that if I did not stuff the fill nozzle in all the way, just back up a little bit, and then only click the handle on the slowest lock position it would then fill and run until it toped off and auto unlicked the handle. That truck has an auxiliary tank too, I think it was 40 gallons total if I recall right. Once some gas went in it cooled the tank down and after about 5 gallons in I could go faster if I wanted to. Became use to just putting it on the slowest fill notch and let it do it's thing.

I now have to do the same thing on the F350

Putting the nozzle in lock position and cleaning windows while the tank fills makes the wifey think things go faster.

Some stations do not have the nozzle locking tabs so I try to fit the gas cap into the handle.
