Pam,

Congratulations on your new truck. You'll love it.
Can't wait to see it at the M&G.

The only question I have, are you going to tow the Que or put it in the bed of the truck ?

Hutch

There is nothing like a big honkin diesel. I had a 1985 f250 with 6.9l navistar. It was a great motor parts where cheap and pull anything. You went going to brake any speed records but it wpuld get you there. I kick myslf at least I a month for not buy a truck they hadf at the local dealer. It was about 5 years ago I was dropping of the truck for service and the wife was across town and was going to pick me up. I was looking at the trucks and the salesman say " if you are looking for a big truck I got one for you" F-350 4x4 ,crew cab ,long bed , powerstroke and all kinds of other goodys. It is a leftover we have 6 of them going for $22000.00 The sticker was over $40000.00 . Well we where going on vacation the next day. It was a big mistake I could have wrote of thru the company.

Oh man...$22K and you passed it up I'm getting used to driving the Beast. Took it yesterday to go to Lancaster with a friend. We made about a dozen different stops, so I got lots of practice parking, which I'm still pretty bad at. Twice we passed a farm stand sign that required turning around, going down farm lanes about as wide as the truck, and driving through Amish horse dodo. I think that makes me an official "hick". There was alot of climbing in and jumping out, and my legs are sore today! So, I went back to Lancaster to this great truck accessory place (Car-Mic) and half an hour later I drove away with running boards, a tuneau cover and a rubber bed mat I don't think the Beast is going to Appleby's tomorrow with their tiny parking lot. It's gonna have to be the Toyota Corolla!

It was late in the day and we had to leave to following morning for vacation. When I got back they where all gone. It was the longest truck I ever saw it wasnt a dually so it looked even longer.

Hi all!
I'm new here, but we have a truck, and a nickname for it too!
It's a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 that we have nicknamed "The Pansy" since we started researching moving up from our pop-up to a TT
A whopping 7500# tow capacity.
I found a GREAT deal on a new Sunline slide model that would be perfect for us, but we can't swing it w/the 1500. Sigh.
I am suffering a case of truck envy!!!

Nice truck It's the same color as mine. I'll look for you around town DH just ran a trail race last weekend at French Creek State Park. We didn't camp because the truck doesn't have 500 miles on it yet, but I'm working on that daily!

I have to say we LOVE the truck, and can't wait to try it out on a test tow. The color in the pics isn't really right. It's more of a maroon, like it shows up on the tailgate in the second picture, but oh well...at least I got the picture to post - thanks to lots of tutorial from Hutch !
And to answer the question...we thought we'd put it in the truck bed

Pam, do you have 500 miles yet? If you don't, you better hurry up and do that before the M&G!

Ah, Pam got the Duramax/Allison combo not the Cummins. Cummins come in the Dodges, D/A combo is in the GM's and Powerstrokes are in the Fords.

Is us looking at the Cummins motor.

Took the test tow today. The Beast had NO idea the QUEtSE was back there! We went down some pretty steep hills in tow haul mode and the Alison really knows what it's doing. Are we ever going to wear out the brakes?...I think not. We couldn't even get the engine to rev Hutch, you said you're towing 8,000 pounds loaded, with basically the same truck. How does your truck respond to that? Have you done any mountains?

Hi Pam,

No real mountains, but have taken it down Rt 15 through PA and I-81 around Scranton which have a few good hills. There’s one part of Rt-15 north of Williamsport that south bound down hill has a 45 mph truck speed limit, which is what I follow going down that grade. Touched the brakes a couple of times to slow to 45, Alison held it at that speed the rest of the way down. As far as climbing, it doesn’t even break a sweat.

Just came back from a trip to Lake George, one long upgrade just south of Lack George on I-87 I wanted to see what it would do so I stepped on the accelerator (didn’t floor it) and it accelerated up to 65 mph with no problem and no hesitation. I had to back off the accelerator to hold it a 65 going up hill.

Needless to say I’m also very happy with it. Getting about 11 mpg towing, that’s highway driving at speeds between 60-65 and keeping it in T/H mode the whole time. I’ve gotten 12 mpg towing at 55 mph, such as Rt 15 south of Smokin Dam. Last year I towed both in and out of T/H mode, but this season I’ve started to keep it in T/H mode all the time. I haven’t found a major difference in mpg.

I hope to weigh the truck and trailer in a few weeks to see what the actual weights are. When I do I'll post the weights.

Enjoy your new truck – it’s a beauty. Can’t wait to see it in person at the M&G.

By the way – how hard was it to get your Que in the bed of the truck?

Hutch

if you see us pam give a wave, you will know it's us because the sunline will be behind us since my truck is just my tow vehicle,I did not know they had events like that at french creek but thats cool they do,our address is birdsboro but we actually live in exeter as a matter of fact the danielboone homestead is right up the road from our house,so we really are not that close to frenchcreek.

Just got back from 10 day trip to Acadia NP. The beast does 15.333 mpg towing at 62 mph on highway mixed with ~ 15% backroads. My biggest problem towing the QUE is I have to remember it's back there so I don't take someone out when I'm changing lanes
