Nissan Armada?
Anyone using a Nissan Armada for towing? We're considering it.
Any thoughts on how it compares to other SUVs for towing?

One source I checked (http://www.leftlanenews.com/new-car-buying/nissan/armada/) listed the capacity @ 6200 lbs, or 9000 lbs with the special tow package.

Hi Roy,
See this post. Jpspaz has towed his camper with 2 of them. While this post is about issues with his WD hitch, it talked some about his 2 Armada's
http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f7...tch-14528.html
His camper is a lot more then the one listed in your sig. He has the bigger tow package, don't know which one your looking at. He may be able to give you some first hand info on his.
Hope this helps
John

Just saw your post Roy. I've been towing with an Armada since '05. I currently have a 2011 Platinum. In short, the truck has plenty of power. The stock shocks are lacking somewhat. I replaced the fronts on my '05 with Bilsteins and will probably do the same with the '11 soon. If you have any specific questions, let me know.

Thanks for all of your input. We have not purchased one yet but are still looking for the right one. There is a good bit of confusion out there over the towing package, and whether the vehicle actually has it or not. We were looking at one last week, and the salesman said it had the 9000 pound towing package. I was a little doubtful of it- thankfully I have been doing some homework on the matter. I pressed him further on it - he called Nissan and was surprised to find out it didn't have the big tow package. It was an honest mistake on his part. Anyway, now I know what to look for on them, rather than taking the salesman's word for it.

10.7% Lower ARMADA $$
ROY.: Our newspaper today has a business article written by ASSOCIATED PRESS saying seven NISSAN models will have lower prices. From 2.7% up
to a max 10.7% which is $4,400 on the ARMADA. .!!
. Ask for current value.? Sounds like you are shopping at like a Car Max.?
We went there ,& nice shop , but latest $$ were not a great discount on
35,000 mile resales . Ended up at a NISSAN dealer for brand new Rouge.
Dealer very very helpful to earn customer business.

The tow package is a must have. I believe it gives you the tranny cooler and gauge, along with a tow/haul mode and some other things.

The Armada is an excellent tow vehicle with the tow package. It's only downfall is a somewhat smaller wheelbase but that should not be a problem for a 20' TT.

Thanks! Everywhere I look, people seem to like the Armada, except for the gas mileage. But that is to be expected. We are still looking for the right one to come along, at a price we are comfortable with.

What is it you're towing. I pushed the 75% rule once where I towed a 4500# trailer with a Nissan with a 5500# capacity. It towed it but at 8mpg and I couldn't keep up with traffic. I would slow to 25 up steep hills and would get up to 35 at the end of freeway entry ramps. At 9000# cap that would handle 6800# loaded camper.
Later I towed it with a F150 with 7300# cap which was perfect. Now I tow 8500# with a F150 with 11,300# cap. no problem.

Very much depends on the F-150. Particularly what engine and rear end gear ratio it has. The F-150 can be built so many different ways that one version shouldn't tow more than a small landscape trailer while others can easily tow your 267SR.

You can pull it with a properly equipped 1/2 ton, but you probably won't be happy with the performance.
We have a '07 276SR which is the same layout as the 267SR except the queen bed is turned 90 degrees. I initially towed it with a '01 Dodge 1500 4x4 off-road that will pull anything you hook to it, (try an F-150, F350, and an Excursion chained together in the snow!!) as long as you don't want to do it over 50 mph. I got tired of not being able to pass comfortably, needing long breaks on entrance ramps, 50-55 on hills, much lower in mountains.
I replaced that with an '04 Dodge 2500 4x4 Cummins Turbo Diesel, Mr. Cummins will pull it at speeds I'm not even going to attempt without even straining.

So we are back from our first little trip using the Armada to tow the T1950. It was so nice to have a bigger vehicle, more power, etc. We used a Dodge Durango and Ford Explorer before. Drove just over 200 miles, averaged 9.3 MPG.
