Honda

With the upcoming $4,500 gift from Obama and the Dems we're considering a new tow vehicle. For 2010 it appears Honda will be selling a Diesel version of our Honda CRV.

The diesel produces 140 horsepower and 250 ft-lbs of torque while getting over 40mpg. Maybe a QUe is in my future.

Diesel

Norm,
I just visited a friend in Norway who has a diesel powered AWD Toyota RAV 4. He has had it for about 2 years now.
When he bought it, it was available with a manual transmission only.
I believe the RAV 4 competes directly against the CRV, so I assume they will be very similar.
Highway speeds are lower in Norway, and he has done no towing with his RAV 4, but he told me his highway mileage is around 5 liters per 100 km, and 5.5 overall in his mixed driving, which is primarily out in the country, where they live.
That translates to 47 and 43 mpg respectively.
FWIW

Honda transmission

The transmission on the Honda is a 6 speed manual, generally my preference in a transmission.

Did you give up on the shower expansion for your 1550?

Bathroom and Solar

Retired people need projects so I'm doing both.

The shower walls are up, the satellite dish is moved (so I can out a skylight in), the skylight over the shower (so I can standup) is in and water proof, now I'm waiting for the plastic interior shower walls and then I just need to trim it out.

I've ordered the solar cells. That's a relatively small project, I would guess a week.

I'm thinking about is adding a little more water capacity for extended boondocking - maybe another 10 gallons.

As well I'm thinking of adding two draws to the overhead cabinet at the rear. The cabinets are not as useful as they might be because of their depth.

Additionally part of the shower development includes a floor to ceiling pantry. next to the refrigerator.

I'm never going to able to get rid of this Sunline.

more Honda

I neglected to mention that the Diesel Honda CRV, hopefully in 2010, has a anti-trailer sway program built in designed to negate trailer sway.
