Goodyear Tires @ Walmart

I need to replace my tires before we hit the road this spring. I started checking prices today and so far it seems Walmart is the cheapest by about $15.00 per tire. I can order them on-line and have them shipped to the store at no charge. Goodyear Marathons 205/75 R15 Load range C
Local Goodyear garage does not stock them and will have to order them too. Just wondering if anyone else has purchased tires through Walmart. Dont want to get tires that have been sitting in a warehouse somewhere for a couple years.
My other thought is that when I order them from Walmart, does Goodyear drop ship the tires to Walmart from the same warehouse my local Goodyear dealer gets them from.

I just bought a new set of Goodyears for my Expedition from Wally World and I was very happy with the transaction. I'm not sure, but I think they came from Goodyear's warehouse. I can't imagine that WM would make the investment to stock huge amounts of tires that may or may not sell. They're in to turning over huge volumes of inventory, so they just order what they need from the maunfacturers.

I don't know for sure about Walmart, but the COSTCO warehouses order direct from the BF Goodrich/Michelin warehouse. When I got new tires there for my Dodge 1500 the salesman ordered them over the phone while I was standing there (phone was on speaker, so I know it was Goodrich/Michelin automated system he was using). I would think all the big chain/warehouse stores do the same.

I have been buying my car and truck tires at Costco for years. They even beat Wal-Mart and Sams for the same tire. There prices include the road hazard and mount and balancing. If you have the executive membership you get 2% back and they also have $ 60.00 of a set about every season. There road hazard is free and they give good service. They dont sell trailer tires which I wish they would.

We've got tires from Wal-Mart in the past, and had no problems.

You might want to check in with Discount Tire if they have stores in your area? They advertise that they will beat any advertised price and usually have the tires in stock so you dont have to order them.

Just a thought. We were looking for new tires for out truck and went with the Goodyear Wranglers Silent Armor which Wal-Mart would have had to order holding us up for 7-10 days, yet Discount Tire had them in stock, and $10 cheaper!

I actually work for Wal-Mart and the GoodYear and Michelin come direct from the manufacturer. Also any special orders come direct from their companies.

Thanks for the replies,
looks like I will be ordering them through Walmart. Unfortunately we dont have any of the big discount stores where I live. Actually the closest Walmart is about 45 min from my house.
We will finally get our own Super Walmart sometime this summer. We have a group in Town that has been fighting it for several years and they finally lost and Walmart is being built.

I don't know about Goodyear..............................just because Walmart put the wrong tires on my truck. I ordered goodyear so I would have a little better bite this winter. I dropped the truck off and took the Jeep to work. When I returned that evening to pick it up, it sat there with a bran new set of Continintal street tires on it (they were OEM when I bought the truck). After realizing the poor sap would probably get fired because they couldn't use the tires again after they had been installed, I agreed to keep the tires.

What a mistake.................... I have a shake that I can not get rid off. I've had them balanced by Walmart & Ford. I rotated them I've kicked the crap out of them and still I have the vibration. Ford is now saying they may be out of round.

Another set of tires are coming with 5500 miles on these. I ordered them from Ford...................not Walmart!!!!

If you need tires try this; http://www.tirerack.com/. I've bought several sets of tires from them without any issues. My favorite local mechanic actually reccomended them to me instead of selling me the tires. All I do is order them and when they come to my door I load them up and take them to my mechanic and he mounts and balances them for a small fee. I my guy charged me less than $50, and I came out way ahead of the tire stores prices. An added bonus is no sales tax.

Thanks for the info on tire-rack. Ordered my tires from them this am, don't know why but Walmart canceled my tire order.

FYI
I was down south for the winter a few years ago when I bought new GoodYear tires at Walmart. I got the best prices there. After returning to PA. in the spring I thought I'd call my local Good Year store to see how good of adeal I got. They told me that the Good Year tires I bought are "Club" tires made by Good Year for walmart. i suppose there made to Walmarts specifications. Good YEAR store siad they can't sell an exact replacement tire for these Club Tires. John

Glad to help. I've had several good experiences with them, and one bad one with WalMart.
