Brake controller is in and it works!
I just finished installing the brake controller in Escape today. The model I'm using is an older model Tekonsha Commander that I found "Brand New" on Craigslist for $20.00!
The wiring diagram in the paperwork made it very easy to install. I hooked up a 20 amp auto-reset circuit breaker under the hood, ran a hot wire from the battery to the breaker, and then from the breaker to the to the controller.
The ground went from the controller to the negative side of the battery. The blue line went through the molding to the rear end of the car where I drilled a new whole, installed a gromet and slid the wire through and hooked it up to the pigtail.
I took my time with it and made it look very nice. I mounted the controller inside the drivers side door under the dash where it can be easily reached.
I wrapped all the wire in flume, taped it off nicely and wire tied it in.
I'll be sure to take pictures of the whole job and share so you can see what I've done. I'll also include some photos of the pigtail on the trailer and the plugin on the Escape which I mounted straight inside the bumper for a nice flush look. It came out very nice!
