Window screen

Hi Group,
I have a window that will not open and want to repair the operator gear or what ever is wrong. The first thing I must do is remove the window screen and I don't want to damage it and need an idea as to how to get it out. I've tried various gentle prying and nothing seems to work. Does the entire window have to be removed by unscrewing it from the wall?
Thanks,
Jack

Hi Jack,

It's been a number of years since I've been around that style window, but I believe you do need to unscrew it on the inside of the trailer. I'm pretty sure these aren't clamp style windows, so the inside screen part doesn't act as a clamp to hold the window in. It's just a way to mount the screen and still have it look alright. The little twist tabs are for mounting optional storm windows, but the tabs came on all windows.

I haven't changed a window crank before though (just knobs), so I can't say if the window itself needs to come out in order to remove it from the torque tube for replacement.

hi, i'm also wanting to remove the screens to wash, and thought that the little clamps were holding it in. but when i moved them out of the way, the screen wouldn't come loose. not sure if the 83 had the same style windows, and i'll have to take another look, but it sounds the same. are you saying that the whole window needs to be unscrewed from the inside and then i will be able to pry out the screen? and/or also that the window may need to come out entirely to get the screen? that can't be right...i really thought the screens would pop right out when the clasps were adjusted...

The clips I have learned are for storm windows there maybe be some one that can tell you all about that I have never seen them. However in order to deal with the screens you have to remove the entire metal part with all the screws holding it in. Once they are out they are held in just like any other screen as far as replacement is concerned.
