Window Leak

I was looking for a wiring problem when I found this little gem:

The window above this compartment has a small leak. The wood rot is not at all bad- less than an inch if wood is totally gone, so I'll wait to tear the siding off and replace the wood.

Any advice for window removal and re sealing?

I'll take a "guess" at the yellow wire,

If this is up front and by the area where the 7 wire cable that plugs into the truck comes in the camper.... That is the unused back up light wire in the 7 wire cable. Most times this is in a wood box with a fuse and or self resetting circuit breaker on the older campers.

Tell us a little more on the location of the mystery wire? Or did I guess right and win the prize??

The window. Somewhere... I thought I had a post on this. I cannot find it but here are the pics

In side the camper, on the newer campers, there is a series of screws all around the flange that hold a flange ring on. Take out all those screws and the will come out, heads up it might fall out or be stuck to the side of the camper by putty tape. May need a helper to hold it so it does not fall out. On the older campers, I think the screws are on the outside.

Once out and all cleaned up, wood fixed. Then use butyl seling tape around the flange of the new window and extra in any dips etc and put back in. trim off excess sealing tape that ozz'ed out. Warm days ozz more than cold days

Hope this helps

John

I think you may be right with the yellow wire. I haven't chased the wire all the way yet, but this in the back if the trailer behind the wheel well, and behind the potable tank. I was chasing my tail light wiring, and I pulled the left side tail light fixture off the back of the trailer, and out pops a yellow wire that goes to nothing. I decided to see if there was any yellow wire in the camper, and I found the wire and the leak. I've suspended leak repair until I can source the butyl tape to seal the window.

Thanks for the help!

The back of the camper.... H'mm a yellow wire is the color for left turn and the left stop light. But that is if it was used all the way to the lights. I do not know if Sunline always used the standard trailer color scheme OR what year it became the new standard. Back when colors may be different.

Trailer Wiring Diagrams | etrailer.com

Here is mine, 2003/2004 They used red as the left turn/stop light and orange as the battery charge line.

Stuffed in the 7 wire and cut off is a yellow reverse light wire
