Water leak concern

In my past few trips out this season I have heard about every 30 minutes my water pump running for about a second at a time. Obviously it does this to keep the water pressure up in my lines. But no one was using any water at the present time. Now I am not presently hooked up to water.

I have not found any water leaking anywhere. One guy told me it could be one of the check valves leading out of the fresh water tank that has gone bad. If anybody has any ideas where I should look, or if you have had this happen to yourselves ever the info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Dave,
If you have an outside shower, you can check to make sure that both hot and cold valves are closed properly. I,ve had this problem before.

Also check the check valve on the city water inlet. They have a tendency to stick a little bit open, and if it isn't seated the right way, water will drip out of that.

To do this, turn the pump on and let it stay on. Go out to the city water inlet, remove the screen, and push on the valve (don't stand in front of it) and release it really quickly. Do this a couple times until it looks like the puddle inside the city water inlet doesn't get any bigger.

The above suggestions are all good ones.

If you wish to rule out the check valve in the pump, simply remove the hose/pipe from the output side of the pump, and cap the pump output. If it still runs intermittantly, it's the pump leaking internally. If it doesn't, the leak lies elsewhere.

If your water heater is on, it may be as simple as the relief valve 'letting off a little steam"..they will drip if your hot water gets a bit too hot and not used...that results in your pump "burping".

Thanks to all for the possible scenarios to look for next time I take it out. I like the last post who said it was "burping" cause that's what it sounds like. Although I use a different interpretation, which my wife didn't care for the last time we camped. Thanks again.
