Vent covers with vent fans, why not??

I have just replaced one roof vent and also installed a Ramble Vent Cover. We're really liking this cover. So now we think it'd be nice to have a cover over the bathroom vent too. It has a fan of course, and both the Ramble and Maxxair covers say they aren't recommended for fan vents. Why would this be? Thanks in advance for your help.

It may be the vent type you have. I have a Maxxair TurboMax fan/vent cover and have it in the central bath room of the camper. I only ever use it to exhaust out, never in. And make sure it is off when you flush. As long as your exhausting there is no issue. I did take the bath whizzer fan out when I added the Turbo Max. No need at all for the whizzer with the big fan up there. A whole lot quieter.

I have a basic Maxxair in the bathroom and it doesn't allow the regular vent cover to fully open and would cause back pressure in a big fan. That may be why they don't recommend using it with a fan. I still have the little "whizzer" fan which doesn't really push much air so no real back pressure problems with that.

OK, yeah it must be the type of fan. We just have the whizzer so I can't imagine it would be a problem. And John, thanks for the tips on that Turbo Maxx. It looks really nice. We'll probably go with a cheaper alternative at this point though. At least with a cover we can still get some ventilation through there when it's raining.

Just put a turbomaxx on our 1550, takes about an hour(as long as you don't have to keep walking back and forth to get tools). It really pulls the air thru. Seems like a good investment.

LanCoPA....

GritsnGravy and John B's TurboMax probably is the ideal solution, but I often don't spring for the best (often have to settle for just better).

Anyway.....Instead of putting in a TurboMax or Fantastic Fan, I elected to go with replacing my buzzy little bathroom fan with a Vortex, by Hengs.

It's a considerable improvement over the buzzy original fan....much better airflow, and less noise....though admittedly not as quiet as the 2 best options. Installs very easily . Costs $55.55 to $74 + shipping (depends on your source-Camping World's doing a sale).

I suggest you do a google search and look at it.

I have a 3 speed reversable turbo maxx and wouldn't leave home without it. We almost always dry camp and without AC, it does a good job cooling things down a bit drawing cool air in on 12v. The cover on the other vent allows us to leave the vent open in the rain.
