Upper awning arm

Looks like the smaller end of my upper awning arm (the part that slides in and out when the arm is moved) on my 2004 t-2475 is broken. Does anyone have one or know where one can be found? Thanks.

Hi, this is very common and easily fixed. You can get the part at most any rv sales/parts store. I've replaced 2 on my Sunline. Take the broken/bent one off and visit your loca rv store. Shouldn't cost more than $65. Hope this helps.

jim44646, that post was great! One more question. Does anyone make one of these upper rafter arms longer than 31.5 inches? These are about 1 inch shorter than I need in order to create a rain channel at the roller.

I'm sure. Mine is 65". Just watch you don't get it to long, it will interfere with bottom bracket

Yes. 65" would be too long. Found the issue. When my new awning was installed, the installed connected the awning to the roller at the valence only. He should have connected further up the awning first. As a result of this, I can roll my awning out an extra 3 inches. This is taking me right to the end of the upper arm to the point where I can't tighten it properly. I am going to add the second (or first in this case) attachment point by extending the awning, then rolling it back a little to install the attaching line. This should take care of my problem.

H'mm trying to understand your issue, if they installed the awning on the wrong cord slot on the awning tube, that can mix up the end result of how it rolls up and may mix up where the locking pawl is.

This post with a lot of pic's my help if you need to deal with taking off the end caps to put the awning in the correct location.

John, when you extend your awning until it stops (at the first cord), imagine removing that cord. Now you can extend the awning a few more inches until you reach the second cord at the valence. It turns out that this us just enough extra to reach the end of the upper awning arm slider. Sunline did not waste any extral metal, that's for sure. You are correct about the locking pawl. After I had awning material installed, the locking pawl was in a different position, more towards the top of the roller when retracted. Since it was still accessible, I didn't bother readjusting it. In retrospect, I probably should have. I usually give the awning a few exta clicks of extension to create a rain channel. If the material had been attached normally (2 cord slots), I wouldn't have had this problem of over-extending the arm length. It's a simple fix if I leave the lock where it is. I don't know if I want to go through the trouble of taking the end caps off just to reposition the lock.

Sunline had nothing to do with the design or construction of the awning. They are standard A&E, Colorado, Carefree, or Dometic products which Sunline purchased and simply installed on the trailer.

The problem you describe is strictly due to the replacement awning material being installed in a different cord slot.

Sounds like your awning is in the wrong slot on roller. I have one slot remaining under awning for lights or shade curtain.
First chord slot for awning drip flap, second chord slot for awning, third chord slot accessories.

Yep. And only using one cord slot instead of two. Install error. Not a design flaw. But, if only the upper arm was a few inches longer. Not saying it should be, just wishing it was. And you are also correct in that Sunline was not the awning manufacturer.
