Trying to find tire size.
We are in the process of buying a 1999 solaris t2970 and want to take new tires along to pick it up. Can anyone tell me what size they should be? Thanks

Hi,
According to the 1999 brochure, here Sunline Coach Owner's Club - Sunline Owner's Files - Sunline Brochures
A 99, T2970 is a 7,000# GVWR trailer. I am not 100% sure on the 1999's but I know for sure on the 2003 to 2007, Sunline used ST205 75 R15 Load Range C (50psi max) tires. Odds are high those are the tires for your 99 model. Maybe someone with a 99 or older 7,000# GVWR camper can confirm. While a 14" tire of the correct size can handle the full weight of the camper, I do not recall Sunline doing that on the more newer campers and your 99 in in the newer group.
You asked about the tires, did you need want new the rims too or you going to change the tires on the existing rims before towing long distance? Also make sure you put new valve stems in and a good idea to get a new spare tire too. using an age old spare for a camper spare, it not a dependable thing.
Remember to air the trailer tires up to max side wall cold pressure when towing. In this case that would be 50psi.
Hope this helps
John

Thank you John B. For the help. I am planning on putting tires on the rims. So I should be good to go.

Agreed with John, they will be ST205/75/R15 LRC.

If you choose to take new wheels with you too, they will have a 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern. It's important to note that '98 and '99 Sunlines had slight positive offset wheels, so if you get a standard zero offset wheel, you may have some clearance issues in the fender wells.

No clue. They were regular white spoke trailer wheels, just with a different appearance due to the offset change.
Here was the old style:
And the new style (thanks Hutch, found via Google):
I was slightly incorrect too, the newer style lasted longer, through 2001-03ish I think. They went back to the deep dish/zero offset at some point I think, even though I haven't measured to confirm.

One other point to consider: Just because the Sunline info says the trailer should have 15" wheels on it, there's no way of knowing if that is what is actually there. People swap stuff around all the time.
What I would do is call the seller and ask them to measure the wheels. That way, there's no question about what size tires you will want to purchase.
I agree that ST205/75/R15 LRC tires are the right tires for that trailer provided it's got 15" wheels on it.
