To cover or not to cover?
As I ask this question the weather is getting colder in the Northeast, Maine that is. What are the experiences of the group on covering the TT with a manufactured cover or just a Green tarp. We do have a bit of snow every year. I don't see any dealers doing it, too many units. I'm more concerned about the roof structure. I could store it under cover for the Winter but in two years I could pay for a good cover. Since new the TT has been stored inside, under cover. What are you're experiences or problems?
Thx for any help or suggestions, Don K.

No to the tarp as it will rub certain spots on the trailer in the wind. I used a cover in the winter last year. Was quite happy with results.

Tarps can trap moisture too and results in a mildew problem. I'm thinking of buying a manufactured cover this year too so I'll watch the answers for cover or no cover.

Craigslist is a great place to find used ones.

I had a Toyota motor home and the cover was way big they just don't make them for 21' MH's. But what I did was make two low "saw horses" and put them on the roof first then put the cover on that gave me a "pitched" roof to shed the snow well mostly shed the snow it also allowed me to leave the rear vent open. I now have a nice big barn/garage to put my T1700 in!

I was going to use a tarp to cover mine, i just don't want to spend the money on a cover for it. What is the difference if the tarp rubs in the wind or a cover rubbing in the wind, i would tie the tarp as tight as i could get it so it wouldn't flap to much. Or am i better off not covering it at all?
thanks

- The tarp traps moisture; the cover breathes
- The cover is a softer material than the tarp - tarp rubs damage the TT
- The tarp has metal grommets. If they bang on the TT in the wind....
- If you use a cover, tie it down twice as secure as you think it should be
- IMHO, you are better off leaving it uncovered rather than tarping
I never covered the 2453 in 12 years of ownership. I never saw any degradation in the roof & exterior at the end of each winter.
As always, YMMV.

Thanks Steve, i just couldn't see spending $250+ for my camper, i like it it's just not worth it. Should i close it up tight or leave the top vent cracked and a window cracked open?

I had the MaxxAir vent covers on my roof vents so I left all three of them open all winter so moisture build up was not an issue.
If you don't have the MaxxAirs (or similiar), cracking a few windows should be sufficient.
