That nasty "W" word

OH, the dreaded "W" word Yep, "winterizing", darn I hate doing that. But, anyway, it was such a beautiful day yesterday, that I gave Sunny his big gulp of pink stuff, filled his water lines (I had drained them first ), drained the water heater(so easy to do with JohnBs' mod), pink stuff in the P-traps and toilet bowl, and I did remember to do the outside shower even though I never use it. I still have to empty the pantry, the fridge is empty, turned off and proped open about 2 inches. I put 2 coats of Aero 303 on the tires, removed the pressure pro sensors, checked the air pressure(added air where needed), and put the regular valve stem caps on, and then put the tire covers on. I then proceeded to put some Aero 303 on the decals, the hinged propane tank cover, the spare tire cover, and the power tongue jack cover. I then proceeded to crawl under Sunny to take a look at the frame and, saw a few spot of surface rust, so got wire brush and can of Rustoleum and touched up some spots. This caused me to get a wee bit car-sick feeling, so I was glad to get that finished and call it a day. I can't lay on my back and work over my head without getting sick, maybe next time I'll try to remember to take some dramamine to see if it will help. I still have a drawer to build for under the cooktop, and that special project that is in the works

I unfortunately will not be treking to Pigeon Forge this thanksgiving, thanks to school screwing up my days off. BUT............................................... ...............................................
Now, I am contenplating going to Williamsburg, VA December 29 for 4 nights, so might have to repeat all this again in a month. YIKES, go away in a month, I better get my projects finished. As always, I'll post pictures when things are completed.

I've never really thought about it, figured it's an open line into the tank and would drain on it's own. I haven't had any problems with it in two winters, but this year I will throw the air line on when I winterize it just in case.

If you have the one direct from Sunline, it has a vacuum breaker in line with it that makes a natural up and over trap.

And if you have an aftermarket sprayer, it too can have a water trap in the line depending on how you have routed the hose.

Best is to not test fate.

I use an air compressor to blow mine out.

Good luck.

John

PS If you do not have a compressor, some how you need to pump some pink stuff (antifreeze) in the line. Screw a short garden hose, 3 to 4 feet long, fill from up high the pink stuff and then with something force the pink stuff in. I doubt gravity will push it in. The Sunline one with the vac breaker needs a little pressure to open the valve. The Camco Tornado has a spring loaded check valve in the sprayer head to over come. The Quickie flush, "might" work with gravity.

December 18th and the temps are all the way down to the lower 70's. Not that I'm gloating or anything.
We did have a snow storm last week, but it didn't stay around. Over in Louisiana, they got about an inch that shut down the roads and schools. It was mostly melted by the next day.
That danged global warning.

Sigh...wish we were in Mississippi Tweety is all packed and ready to go. Mr. Tweety got all the snow and ice off the roof. Now we're getting snow/sleet/ice tomorrow again so we'll be stuck here...at least until saturday...but it looks like there's more on the way after that too. I guess this is why people don't go winter camping

We made it out of PA and are at a campground in VA. It was 31 when we left home and was 57 when we pulled into Misty Mountain. So THIS is why people go winter camping!!! To get away from winter. South Carolina here we come

Pam & Steve:

Congratulations. You got away just in time: We've been getting hit with either sleet or rain every 48 hours for the past two weeks. Since I'd sink up to the axles if I pulled our Sunline off of the blocks, I'll have to camp vicariously through you and our southern brethren this winter. Enjoy your trip especially since you are doing it for all of us who are trapped up north.

This pair of snow birds is finding it more difficult than normal to escape winter weather.

We left Seattle a week ago, just missing their snow and cold, some 20 degrees below their normal temperatures. We escaped to find snow on mid coast Oregon, extremely rare pre winter. We are now in coastal Northern CA and the multiple hail showers we experienced in Oregon, have happened here, thankfully less frequently.

Today we head further south seeking snow bird warmth.

Holiday greetings to all,

Hey Al...our yard isn't looking too spiffy where we pulled out either. We had to use 4 wheel low to get her out, even though we only drive across maybe 15 feet of grass. (which is now rutted mud) Guess we should have extended the driveway a little more when we put the camper pad in.

Leo & I wish all of you traveling to sunny places to think of us! We have had about 25" of snow since Friday with another storm due in on Monday again on Wednesday and still another on Friday...looks like we will not be heading out to visit the kids/grandkids this holiday season!

I keep telling Leo he has to give up plowing!
