T-1950 didn't winterize

Hey all,
So I was a bad boy last year and didn't winterize my T-1950. Upon hooking her up it turns out the hot water heater tank had cracked and the faucet stem cracked also.
As for the tank I have a good welder friend that is going tig weld the crack in the tank. Does anyone see a problem with doing this?
Secondly, can I just buy the stem of the faucet? It appears that it unscrews from the base plate, or should I just buy a new faucet?
If I go new, does anyone know the stem height and length? I don't want to buy anything that is to high and that will be to long.
Thanks

Good luck welding the tank I'll leave it at that if nothing else at least use SS rod. The fixtures are standard 4 or 8" plumbing fixtures any big box will have some thing. They are plastic and there really is no way to fix them you can't get them apart.

I had a cracked water tank years ago. Had it welded 3 or 4 times it still leaked. We kind of theorized that the water that was still in the crack kept expanding when welding and cracking new weld. Ended up buying new tank.

On the faucet. I do not recall if the 2005's had the lever handles or the knobs. I know the 2004's had the 2 knobs and the 2006's had the lever handles.

Odds are high your faucet is either Empire Brass or Phoenix. You will need to sort that out.

Here is a fairly large qty of the Phoenix ones. And they do sell parts kits for some models. But then again the entire faucet may only be $20 pending the model you have

Amazon.com: Phoenix rv faucet: Automotive

I did replace my bath faucet. The standard home faucets at the lumber yards fit. I now have a mono lever bath faucet. For reasons not yet totally understood, just yet, the hot water faucet gets real hard to work, the shower one too. I take it apart, clean it, it works good for a few days and then hard to open again. It is like the O ring is swelling or something. The cold works fine and I filter all my water. I ended up upgrading the sink faucet so I could steel parts to fix the shower hot water valve stem.

Hope this helps

John

The HW tank, this is going to be a 50/50 shot and maybe more like 30% it may hold. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. We have not yet had a highly successful repair rate. There may be a few, just not that many talked about here on the SOC
