Street side tail light not working?

Hello all. I just purchase my FIRST travel trailer. It's a used 1996 sunline solaris t-1950. I'm so in love with this camper, however the street side tail light doesn't work. I've replaced the bulb, but still no luck. I have no idea where to start looking for a resolution so I'm asking Ya'll (yes i'm from the south). Any Ideas??????

Gaius

Welcome to forum.
Could be a corroded socket or bad ground. A 12 volt test light is very useful Extra Long Circuit Tester. By tail light are u referring to running light or brake light? Are your marker lights working?

I would agree with the socket or the connections to it. The lights on trailers are notoriously chinsey. My car trailer is the same way. I just replaced all the clearance lights on my 90 since the bulb holders were literaly falling apart. The good news is replacements are cheap. I found the actual wiring to be really good so doubt that is the issue.

And yes a test lamp is a must have for easy diagnosis of 12v stuff.

Welcome to the club and congrats on your new camper!. Heads up, good times can be additive

The tail light that does not work, is it a dual element bulb? If so try the brake lights that uses the other element. If one 1/2 works and the other side does not, well the grounds are good.

I agree corrosion may be against you. That is the text book first thing to rule out. You may have to scrape the socket to remove the corrosion. Unhook the 7 wire from the truck or make sure the power it off first.

Dieletric grease is your friend in these cases. Put it int eh brass part of the bulb and put it in the socket once you get it working to fight corrosion. Any auto part store has it

Amazon.com: Permatex 22058 Dielectric Tune-Up Grease, 3 oz. Tube: Automotive

Hope this helps and good luck

John
