John, I was actually thinking of getting some kind of metal strapping to connect the two bolt heads....forming a sort of 'U' clamp...that would strengthen the system and maintain the uncluttered look. I actually like the look better than the steel hose bumper.

Yes, the site is a wealth of great info and great people.

I also used the black on the cowl panel of my Ex because it was faded so bad from the Florida sun. It has held up really well so far. There's only one small spot where it seems like it reacted or something when it first went on, so it's not as even there, but the rest looks like it isn't even paint. I did it in like April and so far so good, and most of the time has been outside 24/7. I could have probably done a second coat, but I didn't fearing that maybe it would react or something with what was there which already looked so good. I never have done a test piece of some sort to see if it would react or not.

IMO, I think this came out better than the white on the fiberglass, but granted the white was earlier on when they first came out with it and maybe it didn't get as thick as this did for the first coat.

Yup, that is good idea too.

I speak well for the Fusion spray paint, too. I used it to paint a bunch of PVC pipe in red, yellow, and blue. It goes on well, and except for the yellow, it covers very well on the first coat. Yellow needed two coats to cover the printing on white PVC pipe.

It has held up much better than I expected, and seems to be pretty chip resistant, too.

I gave some of the pipe a light sanding with #400 sand paper just to clean it and give a better surface for adhesion. I haven't seen much difference between the sanded and unsanded now that it is all painted.

Hi Steve,

How did the second coat go on? Did it cover the spots where it seemed to bubble up? Did it change the look of the other good parts at all?

Mine has held up well too. The only imperfection besides the bubble spot is where I accidentally had it touch the pointed corner of the open hood as I tried to put the panel back on, so there's a small scratch in it there. But that was when it was still fresh and probably not 100% cured yet.

Jon, the paint pretty much behaved like any good spray paint. Yellow, being much lighter, didn't completely cover the dark lettering on PVC pipe in one coat. I let dry overnight and then gave it a second coat. It looked great and just made the color a bit bolder and stronger to the eye. The finish is nice and smooth.
