Rides to low....!

My 2000 27 ft has the small wheels in the rear. I was thinking about doing the Dexter Axle over/under kit. Any thoughts? Cost for job and does it help?

Do it! We had the 2753. First we put the drag wheels on, and of course that helps because you run on the little wheels. But it wasn't the solution. We had the dealer flip the axles and never dragged again. Our bill was under $300.

Just curious, did you loose any measurable gas milage raising the trailer?
Thanks,
Tom

MPG, it depends on the TV and the TT. If your truck has lots of power, odds are high you will never see it. If you have a TV running at it's limits, the increased air drag may affect it.

Do you happen to know your total combined gross weight of camper and truck and the GCWR of the truck?

Ask this another way, what is your towing MPG now? and what is the trailer you are towing and what is the TV, engine size, and rear axle. We can take a guesstimate at it.

And assuming the truck is on stock tire size.

John

As I recall we improved the mileage slightly. But that could have been due to the truck and trailer bottom lined up perfectly after the flip. Prior to the flip the trailer was lower, so we had wind drag above and below. We had a GMC Sierra 2500 diesel at the time. We got 13.33 mpg on all terrain, including the mountains along I81 in Virginia.

I don’t think my fuel mileage changed that much. IMHO my Sunny tows even better than before. I’m very happy with the upgrade and totally convinced it saved me money by prevent damage. Martin’s Camper Sales (Mechanicsburg) did mine for just under $400.00. All parts were in stock too!
