Replacement Fender Skirts

The fender skirts on my 2553 are cracking around the screws. I would like to replace them as soon as possible. I have found two dealers that have the gold skirts that look like what is on my unit.

Is there more than one size of these? Is there some way I can be sure they have the same part I need? Stolfetz(sp?) has several, but when she measured the part she has, it seems to be a couple of inches longer than mine. It could be the way she measured it, but I thought I would check with you Sunline experts!

Thanks,
David

Re: Replacement Fender Skirts

Are they badly cracked? I'm sure they are just ABS plastic, you can glue on an extra layer on the back side and they'll be stronger than new.

I just bought some spares a couple minutes ago from Stoltzfus. They were $30 each.

There are two sizes. I measured mine last time I was at the coach so I could order them, and mine are the larger ones. I suspect with your coach being smaller and having the 205/75/R15's, you probably have the smaller one. I measured 68 1/4" x 12", and Stoltzfus said 68 x 12. If I recall, I measured from the very bottom lip that wraps around on the bottom side, so an overall length. I measured the height the same way, from the bottom lip to the very top in the center. It was more of a rough estimate though, because I knew the length was what counted.

Just to warn you, shipping won't be cheap.

Also, I would suggest you keep the old skirt(s). When no more are available, one with cracks around the screw holes would be a lifesaver if a blowout or stone took out one.

Also, a little tip for installing it, make sure to put a bunch of putty tape behind (just like the original was) and don't put the screws in too tight. I wouldn't even use a drill. The reason they crack there is because they tightened them too tight at the factory.

I'm bringing this back. I had some screw holes crack so I took the screws out and put washers on them. When we were out Memorial day weekend one of the skirts is cracked. If I take it off it will be two pieces. Has anyone had any luck finding replacements? My other option is to take it off and try to repair it with epoxy.

Stoltzfus in Adamstown has them, but shipping will cost you a bundle. The key to getting the right ones is to combine the length along with the spacing between the screw holes. They have the white ones to fit the nonslide units. The gold ones they have seem to fit the slide room trailers.

Mine is a 99 Solaris. From what I've seen what they have is different than what I need.

You can get an idea of the skirts on this one.
