Replace Outside Spigot?

On the way to Buttonwood Meet and Greet our tire blow out damaged the outside water spigot.

Anyone have any info on the replacement of this? My husband has obtained another spigot from the camping supply store.

Or do you mean the outside shower with the door and faucet/hose/sprayer?

It is the fresh water drain spigot, located on the passenger side, just behind the wheels on our camper.

Changing it out will be somewhat challenging. First, remove the two screws that hold it to the wall. Then, pull on the part to pull it away from the wall. The challenge is that the hose attached to it is stretched tight to the tank so that it won't have any dips in it to hold water and get smelly. If you can access the side of the tank to remove the drain hose on the tank end, that will make it easier.

If you can't remove the hose on the tank end, pull the part out from the wall (it will want to spring back) and stretch it out enough to get the fitting all the way out. You can see through the clear hose to see how far it extends in. Get some vise grip type pliers and crimp the hose before the fitting there to help hold the assembly outside.

The fitting itself is held on with a crimp fitting from the factory, so you will have to stretch that out to loosen it. Screwdriver, pliers, etc. will help to stretch it out. You can't re-use it easily, so don't worry about messing it up. Once the clamp is loose, you can slide the old one right out.

When you push the new one on, you can either try to find a new crimp fitting like the original, or just get a regular small hose clamp and use that.

Before you put it back in, remove the vise grips and put some water in the tank to test the fitting and make sure it doesn't leak. Both the fitting itself and the hose connection behind.

When you put it back in, make sure to put new putty tape on the back of the fitting first. Then remove the vise grips, slide the fitting in the hole, and put the screws back in.

JohnB and Gary have modified that drain and you might find their solutions a viable alternative. I couldn't find John's post, but Gary may be along and add it. IIRC they basically did the same thing, but John used a sediment faucet instead.

That's exactly it! If he has the means of putting it back like that with the new part, it'll be much easier to install that way because it'll be easier to get in the hole.

BTW, is your fresh water tank drain underneath the trailer on the frame rail, or is it in the bottom of the sidewall?
